‘Cowsnest’ is a community farm, conservation area & wildlife refuge. Cowsnest was founded 1975 by a group of young people who wanted to create a place where people could come and live close to nature.
The farm is a refuge for both people and animals. There are several occupied houses on the 830 acre property. There are milking & beef cows, pigs, ducks, gardens, orchards, chickens, preserving room and a wildlife sanctuary.

‘Cowsnest’ is a community farm, conservation area & wildlife refuge, and is affiliated with Potoroo Palace (Native Animal Educational Sanctuary). There are several occupied houses on the 830 acre property.
The first Sunday of every month Cowsnest provides a café at the local market. Every Tuesday is Community Day where people of all ages gather to work on the property and meet in the large communal shed.
Together with Fermaculture Farm are we running a farm gate stall on Myrtle Mountain Rd.
Every day work includes gardening, preserving, cheese making, milking cows, fruit picking, cooking for the market and topping up the farm gate stall. Leisure time can be spent bushwalking, observing wildlife, social gathering or reading in the communal library.
Accomodation is in a separate hut for 4 WWOOFers. Cowsnest provide the food for WWOOFers to do their own cooking in the communal kitchen. Like us on Facebook.

Organic/Biological methods we use
During 45 years no chemical have been used on Cowsnest. Different gardening methods have been used, mainly Biodynamic. Today we’re not strictly following one method
