We live on a 2 hectare property with the young Angus river running through. We have organic gardens with fruit trees, all sorts of berries, vegetable garden with free-roaming bantams, big-layer hens, flower beds and lawns, as well as  2 goats on paddocks.  I run a sustainable architecture & building consulting business from home. Help is always needed in the garden & paddock, picking berries & apples, looking after animals, weed control, making firewood, compost, cleaning up sheds & around the place, sometimes on a sustainable building site. We live 45min by car from Adelaide, 45min from safe swimming beaches & 45min from the surf, so we are pretty central. Accommodation  for 2 in separate stone cottage & own room in the main building. All share in home cooked evening meal. Mixed diet. No smokers please. Longer stays (min 3 weeks) preferred after initial few days. Use of a car possible for the right person. Please contact us via email only.

Near funky Fremantle, and the beach, Pinakarri is an intentional community of 20 friendly adults & 3 kids living in colourful passive-solar houses set in shared gardens surrounding a large common house. We eat together 2 nights a week, around the fire & sometimes play music or hang out together in our leafy gardens. There are several musicians in Pinakarri as well as a piano and guitar for you to play. Walking distance to South beach, close to shops and bus to Freo, bikes are provided too. Pinkarri supports & applies sustainable principles such as extensive grey-water & rainwater systems, including irrigation to the communal and productive gardens, vegetable patch & fruit trees. Work for 2 hours a day: gardening, composting, weeding, cleaning common rooms, or helping prepare a shared meal. You'll stay in the lovely common-house where there is a guest room, dining room, bathroom, internet, b.b.q and a kitchen where you can prepare most of your own meals. You are staying in the community house, and all community members have their own individual houses. This means that although we do love to hang out together and we are a friendly mob, most of us work outside the community, and have busy lives. Staying at Pinakarri you might be & work quite a lot of time by yourself, so you do have to be a self-starter and a person that is o.k living & working alone. Pinakarri welcomes adults, couples, 2 friends, 1 child OK .  We prefer hosting people long term so we can get to know you and you us! But let's try one week first..

"Namoorook" circa 1895, is a beautifully restored homestead on 71 acres of farm land approximately 1.5 kms from Leongatha and 130kms from Melbourne. Adopting regenerative agricultural practices, Namoorook is a mixed farming operation with livestock, organic fruit orchard and vegetable gardens. My husband and I own our property and run a center for rescue and rehabilitation of sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife. Animals in care vary daily, we care for a variety of animals including, joeys, kangaroos, wallabies, birds, possums, flying foxes, and the occasional crocodile. There is always something to do here. We are a nonprofit organization and require a couple or a group of two to help on our bush block. We are 20km from town and a short quad bike ride to the marsh or to some local fishing spots. It gets quite hot out here during the wet season but we work around the weather. Early starts are required most mornings to help feed animals. Jobs here will include, feeding animals, cleaning animal areas, washing, animal food preparation, maintaining fences, pens, gardening, household tasks, machinery maintenance and general odd jobs some of which require heavy lifting. There will be plenty of time to enjoy the pool and explore our unique sites of the West Kimberley We can provide an evening meal if required and we have a food prep area with microwave, fridge and camp stoves, an outside BBQ is available too. Accommodation is basic Donga style with a wardrobe, air conditioning, tv and a queen size bed. All linen and towels are provided. The Donga has a bathroom/toilet/laundry at one end and a food prep area at the other. We run entirely from Solar power so we are mindful of power usage and our internet is via a satellite. Mobile phone coverage is available however in this part of the country it can only be accessed using a Telstra SIM card. Ray and I are easy to get on with but we require the help of people who enjoy the peace and quiet of a natural isolated bush block that are reliable, hard working, compassionate and can work unsupervised. People that are able to be here for a longer stay will get preference over a short stay as it takes time to learn how to manage the animals and the animals build a special trust with their carer. We can ensure a very unique and memorable stay. Please check out our Facebook page Derby Native Wildlife and message us if you are interested. I am more than happy to send you some photos and info.

Just off the escarpment we have a beautiful farm with views towards the nearby hills and farms. We have some animals, cattle, goats and chickens as well as a variety of fruit trees. When blessed with rain we also have some beautiful fresh vegetables. We are unfortunately in drought which has made things very difficult as water is in short supply.
