Silky Oaks Farm Last Active: Active 5 hours, 7 minutes ago City/Town: ConondaleViewFarming Methods: BiodynamicAccommodation Type: In Our Home, BYO AccommodationWe have a beautiful property in Conondale, near Maleny which is in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, Queensland. 154 acres, mostly native bush but with about 20-30acres of cleared land, and we even have our own rain forrest and deer! We are interested in regenerative farming methods, and are looking forward to putting these practices in place to improve the soil and native bush around us. We have a fabulous pool, tennis court and with three dams, one which you can kayak in, there is lots to do on your down time. There is a bus at our gate that will take you into Maleny which is about a 20 minute drive. We've had WWOOFers for the last 2 years out at Roma (in the South QLD outback) and would love to host more here, in this completely different environment as we learn together! Steve Erceg Last Active: Active 5 hours, 16 minutes ago City/Town: OakfordViewFarming Methods: PermacultureAccommodation Type: Separate BuildingMy family and I (4 grown up daughters and their partners) are creating a cafe/ beer shed-restaurant and child care centre on an 11 acre property on outskirts of Perth metro area. The property is 8km from Cockburn train station and 25 minutes drive from Perth city. Whilst My children will be running the businesses, I will be farming the surrounding land based on permaculture principles, with food forests, organic vegetable growing area and small animals to teach children about caring for animals and how to grow food. The organic food and pasture fed eggs we grow will go to the restaurant to be a part of the menu. My wife is heavily involved in climate change action groups and that’s how she makes her contribution to the future of the planet. Whilst we have the same goals, I am more comfortable helping people learn about putting carbon back in the soil and enjoying the benefits of healthy food at the same time. We hope to have day courses when we are established to teach people about permaculture. There is a lot of local interest in the project. We would love you to become involved and feel the satisfaction of seeing it evolve. We have accommodation available in a recently renovated self-contained 1 bedroom granny flat. All food and lodging is included. For more info go to ‘11 acre farm’ on Instagram to see the progress we are making. Daniel Holder Last Active: Active 5 hours, 31 minutes ago City/Town: YapeenViewFarming Methods: OrganicAccommodation Type: Separate Building, CaravanWe live on a 5 acre rural block in Yapeen, Central Victoria. Yapeen is a great mix of quiet countryside within easy access to the historic goldfields and artistic hub of Castlemaine. We are owner builders and in the process of finishing a unique, off grid house. Our block has a diversity of native grasses, some large remnant trees, an abundance of reptiles and birds, resident frogs and visiting kangaroos. We have lots of plans and are in need of extra hands to get things done, but also keen for good company and to learn from and teach others. We need help with maintaining and improving the biodiversity on the block (weeding, native plant propagation, planting and watering revegetation patches and making wildlife habitat such as nesting boxes), house/shed building, animal fencing and gardening - we have an orchard and a large vegetable garden. We use organic methods only and implement permaculture concepts whenever possible. Activities you can do in your time off include bush walks, bird watching, visiting waterholes - we are close proximity to a natural swimming hole at Vaughan Springs. We have a spa/plunge pool available in the summer and a pleasant outside area for relaxing. WWOOFers will stay in a caravan or cabin with the use of our house for meals and bathroom facilities. We prefer to cook and eat together and are keen to experience cuisine from other cultures. We have a 6 month old baby and an enthusiastic 4 year old and would welcome others with small children.
