Short Property Description

We live on a 500 acre bushland community overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We are building a stone and timber house, grow food and flowers and also run a certified organic tea tree farm. We are fully off grid and about 30 min drive from the nearest town and beach and 1 hour South of Byron Bay. There is very limited public transport in this area.

Organic/Biological methods we use

We were certified organic for many years but have since let our registration with ACO lapse as we are not operating commercially at the moment. We are influenced by permaculture, biodynamics and regenerative principles.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

We love hosting people from all over the world and have been doing so for 15 years. We have three teen daughters who love to learn new languages and we love being connected to the wider world. We need a mix of building help and gardening help. Skills in building right now would be awesome but we always have gardening work as we grow much of our own food and lots of flowers! We like to cater jobs to suit the individual’s skills and interests. There are options for longer stays in a private cabin with a mix of shared and self catered meals. We are quite remote, so if you don’t have a car, be prepared for a retreat in the bush for your stay. We drive to town quite a bit but it’s rare that we can drop people off and pick up from town, but we do try. We both work part-time so there would be a mix of working with us and working independently. We are about 20 min to the beach and there are lots of opportunities for bushwalking, swimming, canoeing etc. We share community meals on Friday nights with our neighbours and have fortnightly workdays on Saturdays.
