"Namoorook" circa 1895, is a beautifully restored homestead on 71 acres of farm land approximately 1.5 kms from Leongatha and 130kms from Melbourne. Adopting regenerative agricultural practices, Namoorook is a mixed farming operation with livestock, organic fruit orchard and vegetable gardens. We hope it will become an example of how food and farming systems can use the power of nature to increase biodiversity, enrich the soil, capture carbon, improve watersheds enhancing the entire ecosystem.

The Western District coastline of Victoria is where we have our 30 acres, with 5 acres of native bush. We have visiting native animal such as koalas, kangaroos and plenty of birds. It is only a short drive to the seaside town of Portland. We use rainwater for everything and so planting with this in mind is very important. All that we are creating and building here is a wonderful learning and therapy experience. We would love you to join in with us as we try to create a place for all to enjoy even in our small way.

City/Town: Broken Head
Farming Methods: Permaculture
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, Separate Building
We are part of an intentional community 5km from Broken Head beach and less than 10km from Byron Bay. There are 11 houses spread over 40 hectares and since our beginnings nearly 25 years ago, our main aim has been to re-establish rainforest on what was bare farmland. There are now over 200 different species of bird and animal life, which have been attracted by the new habitat. Native animals such as wallabies, echidnas, goannas, and a huge variety of birds are regular visitors. Our house has been built over the last couple of years with a sustainable focus - it's completely off grid and gradually becoming self sufficient as vegetable gardens and orchard begin to mature. Our main projects at the moment involve finishing the house, establishing and maintaining gardens and building a space for chickens, so there are always plenty to do.

I own 25 acres of steep, rocky land in W Tree in the foothills of the Snowy Mountains. Over almost 35 years I have built (with considerable help) a lovely passive solar mudbrick house, planted crazy numbers of trees, gardened and raised my wonderful son. In many ways I have worked towards a dream from my early 20's to build a country life. My place is lovely. The vast expanse of bushland that surrounds it is beyond spectacular.   We can Sign off on your 2nd Year Visas as we were effected by the 2019-2020 Bushfires.

On the 17th of February the Federal Government announced an initiative allowing volunteers in Bushfire Disaster areas to qualify for second and third Working Holiday visas. Our property was effected and we need assistance with clean up, so we look forward to hearing from you.

WWOOF Australia has developed a Volunteer Bushfire Relief Form in consultation with Border Force, for registered WWOOFers to use for their visa extension application, as confirmation of the volunteer work they have done. Border Force have approved regular WWOOFing hours of 4 to 6 hours a day, maximum of 38 hours in any 7 days for this purpose. Registered WWOOF Australia Hosts need to fill this form in to confirm the TYPE of help they have had and the DATES the WWOOFer has stayed with them. Hosts must keep a copy of this form with their completed Guestbook page for each of these WWOOFers.

Please read full article prior to calling us about it. – Thank you
