Enjoy the river and beach lifestyle while staying on our sustainable oyster farm on the beautiful Crookhaven River. Comprising a land base and 10 hectares of water leases, the farm is located in popular holiday destination Greenwell Point in a friendly co-op of oyster farmers. The Crookhaven River is part of the Shoalhaven estuary, an area of outstanding natural beauty on the NSW south coast, 2.5 hours south of Sydney. Work includes assistance with Aquaculture practises including the cultivation and harvest of Sydney Rock Oysters. General farm assistance includes both land based and water based work. This farm offers an exciting opportunity to work on the water in a calm river estuary with an experienced boat operator. In your spare time, you can take our kayak around the river, surf at nearby beaches or go on a hike through bushland with amazing views and wildlife. For those without their own transport we have bicycles to ride to the local shops at Greenwell Point. The nearest town, Nowra, is a 30 minute bus ride and offers a cinema, cafes/restaurants and shopping. City/Town: Mullumbimby
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home
Our small hobby farm is 2.5 kms from Mullumbimby town centre, 10 kms to Brunswick Heads beaches & the beautiful Brunswick River, and 26 km to Byron Bay. On small 2 acres, we have chickens, some fruit trees, a vegie garden and an adorable dog, and the grounds look almost like a park. They are well established, so work is usually maintenance of home and garden. Annette is from Germany and works part time as a GP. We have tenants and family going in and out, and I love company and good travel stories. However I am also often busy, so WWOOFers need to be able to be self contained unless they have own transport, or a happy to walk to Mullum and catch the bus to Byron Bay or cycle to Brunswick Heads. Accommodation for 1-2 WWoofers (prefer over 23 years old) is in own room with queen size bed. Diet is mostly vegetarian but occasional fish or meat. Prefer non-smokers. Mullumbimby is an Australian town in Byron Shire in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. It promotes itself as "The Biggest Little Town in Australia". The town lies at the foot of Mount Chincogan in the Brunswick Valley about 9 kilometres by road from the coast.
