Short Property Description
We have a 30 acre hobby farm 20kms from Batemans Bay which is on the east coast of NSW. We are both very active retirees. Darrell was a master builder and Blacksmith / Farrier. Thus his skills are being put to good use in our long term project of building a stone home which is very unique and 2/3 complete. Lisa was a former NSW Police Officer and in her spare time makes lead light windows for the home and manages the gardens. Darrell is also a 7th dan black belt in Goshin Rye Karate and runs a dojo in Batemans Bay, training each Monday and Wednesday night. In our spare time we breed & train ‘Friesian & Warlander’ horses. We both teach Horseback Archery & Skill at Arms and involved in the Medieval world often travelling and performing in Medieval Faires. Our pet are inclusive of 7 horses, 2 German shepherd dogs, 2 birds, 7 chickens and goldfish.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
Prior to the 2019/20 bush fires then the subsequent Covid period we were WWOOFing hosts. We were affected by the fires with the loss of property and it has taken us till now to be in a position to offer accommodation to a WWOOFer. Over the years we have amassed an amazing group of world wide friends from being a part of this organisation. To this day we have maintained close contact with our previous WWOOFers to the point that we have had their parents and siblings travel from overseas to Australia to stay with us as friends. We have been fortunate in that we are included in witnessing the extension of their own families. We love being able to pass on the skills we have both acquired and thoroughly enjoy the company and ideas of younger people. Now that our lives are settling down again, we find that we miss the company and ability to teach the skills we have amassed over the years.
