Michael and I, (both 58 years old) and our friendly labrador Marley, live in our family home, on a private 5 acres, on the Blackall Range (about 425 m above sea level), Sunshine Coast Hinterland, 82 kilometres north of Brisbane. Two acres around the house are intensively managed, and the other 3 acres are rainforest, and weedy lantana and privet patches, down to Obi Obi Creek at the bottom of the property. We have two options to offer as accommodation for our WWOOFer volunteers, depending on vacancy. Our self contained granny flat underneath the main residence can accommodate a single person or a couple. Upstairs in the main residence there is a spare bedroom with ensuite, and external patio and entry. We have recently purchased the property, and are keen to establish the veggie patch and orchard, and regenerate areas of rainforest, according to permaculture principles. I am a soil consultant, working with regenerative agriculture/organic farmers and market gardeners across Australia, but particularly in south east Queensland. A few times a year, I teach soil classes for organic farmers and market gardeners, and also teach the soil component of the permaculture course at Crystal Water Eco Village. My speciality is soil mineral balancing. I completed a permaculture design certificate 22 years ago, and this will be my third (and last) personal permaculture property set up, but I am only just beginning, so there is much to be done. In our spare time, Michael and I both enjoy time on the water, fishing, and snorkelling on the wrecks at Tangalooma.

Adopting regenerative agricultural practices, Namoorook is a mixed farming operation with livestock, organic fruit orchard and vegetable gardens. However we have a very large vegetable garden and orchard which we are still looking to expand. The farm is owned by Don and Prue McAllister (65), and Dougal (27) is taking over the farm and manages the day to day work. Hilary (30), the daughter of Don and Prue is also home during Covid 19. Volunteer tasks for WWOOFers will include working and expanding the vegetable garden, fencing, painting, building maintenance, cooking, cleaning, picking pistachios, tree planting and much more. We are gradually restoring a neglected farm, a beautiful 180 acres bordering NP and close to beaches. Low-tech hard work & BD preparations are slowly producing results on our pastures. Our animals are part of the family - Josephine the milking cow, a small beef herd, chooks, ducks & sometimes pigs. Our vegie garden is established, the orchard in the making. Most of our food is produced on the farm, but fishing trips supplement our diet, which is meaty, tasty & healthy. Work includes work in pastures, weeding, raking, fencing, help in vegie garden & orchard, feeding animals and building projects. Own transport preferable to take advantage of the beautiful surrounding area. Caravan accommodation for a single or a couple. No children. Meat-based meals. Non-smokers only. Negotiable stays after first few days. Cannot take WWOOFers during winter.
