This is a good sized garden in the northern suburbs of Canberra where we grow a range of temperate-climate fruit, vegetables and flowers for home use and to gift to friends and neighbours. Visitors will have a comfy bedroom in our house with good wifi coverage. We are looking for people interested in short stays (3-7 days) to do 4-5 hours general gardening a day, leaving plenty of time to explore Canberra. I can pick up from the airport, train or bus station.

‘The Backwater’ is situated overlooking Cuttagee Lake & bounded by Cuttagee Creek & some hectares of environmentally protected forest with river flats along the creek, where horses, kangaroos and wallabies graze. The horses are happy to be ridden by experienced riders. We were among the first WWOOF Hosts with an Organically Certified and have been with the Organisation since 1996. A solar powered property when we came here 32 years ago as retirees looking for a sustainable way of life, so you can easily guess that willing workers appreciative of a beautiful environment, preferably with their own transport, would be more than welcome. We have 80 kiwi fruit vines & sell fruit at local markets, also breed compost worms for home use. 4 horses in various stages of training graze the flats. Abundant bird life plus gliders, lyrebirds, wallabies & kangaroos. Plenty of varied & pleasant work. Accommodation en famile, diet as required also beautiful camping spots available. We have Hosted many WWOOFers over the years from all different countries, so don't hesitate pick up the phone today or email us thank you Anne and Colin.

The property is a hobby farm located on 5 acres about an hour north of Melbourne. We keep chickens, sheep, bees and have a veggie patch and orchard. The house has solar panels, water tanks, and a septic sysytem. It is not fully off-grid, but not far from it. Ruby our kelpie keeps everything in check. 🙂
