Large backyard garden. I have fruit trees, vegie beds, bee hive and chooks. My house is in walking distance to shopping centre, bus, leisure centre and library. I have some internet access, and bedroom has shower and basin attached. I volunteer in the Grovedale Community Garden (it has a Facebook page); in the Grovedale Community Orchard (also has a Facebook page); and buy and help with the Grovedale Veggie Box which supplies me with fresh, organic vegetables (also Facebook page). From all these places I learn more about how to sustainably garden and look after my chickens.

My block is on a wild river, only 20km from Gordonvale on a sealed road, and 40km south of Cairns. On the other side of the river is Wooroonooran National Park, a World Heritage Rainforest, about the same area as the Daintree Rainforest. Being centrally located, the block is almost equidistant from Cairns/Babinda and the Tablelands. Life is often subject to the elements, the mood of the river, sun and rainfall patterns. While half of my life was spent living and working in the Pacific, and the other half working in Renewable Energy in Australia, I love this connection to nature, and its wildlife. I have lived here for close to 20 years, and grow a range of tropical fruit and vegetables for my own and friends consumption. Many years ago I planted a number of rainforest trees such as lemon myrtle (which makes a great tea), davidsons plum, lemon aspin, and evodia (which attracts the Ulysses butterfly). There is also a well established vine which hosts the caterpillar which becomes Australia's largest butterfly, the Cairns Birdwing. The house is entirely off-grid and is solar powered (I'm an electrical engineer who started in renewable energy in 1974), and I deal with my own water supply and waste treatment. Where possible I've reduced my usage of fossil fuels, so have no backup generator, and run an electic mower, sports motorcycle and occasionally, an electric chainsaw. My sports are almost all human or natural energy systems powered, and have been through my life. Two self contained single bedroom houses are joined by a walkway, both have verandah's with a view of the river. I sleep on the newer house, but use the kitchen in the older house, which also has the shared bathroom/ laundry.

We have not been effected by fires or floods and fortunately we have had some rain since the New Year which has made the farming outlook in this area much more positive than it was late last year. The Pines is a 1000 acre holistically managed grazing property. We run a commercial Angus breeding herd & a 1st cross Ewe flock.(sheep) We also have horses which we use to muster stock. We are very proud of our property and are constantly endeavouring to improve it and our animal's welfare. We also make an effort to include the native flora & fauna that live on our land. We are situated on the Central Tablelands of NSW 25 km from our largest town Blayney) & 5 km from the small village of Neville. We are reachable by train from Sydney (Blayney station) and are just west of the Blue Mountains for those interested in bush walking, hiking etc.

Organic Mango and Citrus Farm About Us: The Mareeba Orchards story began over 20 years ago. A fruit farmer in Far North Queensland wanted to enjoy delicious fruit all year round, rather than waiting for in-season fruit once a year. He decided to explore various farming and drying techniques, to maintain the natural taste and health benefits of the fruit. Without using any harsh chemicals or preservatives, he discovered a winning formula - the Mareeba Orchards dried fruit we enjoy today. Mareeba Orchards Dried Fruit is 100% naturally grown in Far North Queensland Australia, renowned for its fertile soil and tropical fruit farms. We proudly support local Queensland farmers who share our passion for preservative-free, premium quality fruit. Mareeba Orchards fruit is dried and packed on our farm in Queensland, for maximum freshness and taste, and is sold in over 300 retailers across Australia. Mareeba Orchards dries 5 different tropical fruits on the farm and packs and ships countrywide and to the USA and China The farm and drying facilities are located on the same premises. Drying Facilities Our dehydrators are technologically advanced. We are able to monitor the drying temperature of the fruit and the humidity. The computerised data helps produce the highest quality dried mango available on the market.

Jarrah Bridge Farm is a small, family owned and run farm in the beautiful Southern Forest region of WA. We grow truffles, finger limes, pomegranates and blueberries, as well as a small market garden. We also keep animals, but do not sell them commercially. Our core value is to work regeneratively and to care for the soil. 3/4 of our farm is organic certified, but half of our truffle orchard and blueberries are grown conventionally, as part of a trial. You will not be involved with this non-organic aspect of our farm. We offer accommodation in a stand alone cottage, about 50m from the main house. We adopted an enormous 2 yr old puppy a few months ago who is super friendly, but very bouncy and overexcited, so people who are scared of dogs would not be well suited to our place. We look forward to hearing from you!
