    Short Property Description

We live near Toogoolawah on a 500acre regenerative beef property. We have a small breeding herd which we cell graze across 30 paddocks. We are passionate about regenerating the soil, and use pasture cropping and legume planting to boost soil fertility and grass production. We have a diverse ecosystem and are passionate about restoring biodiversity by planting tree corridors and creating habitat for Australian bird life and marsupials to thrive. We have a large orchard, and vegetable garden where we enjoy growing our own produce with regenerative and permaculture principles.   We have 3 daughters (2 at boarding school) who enjoy riding horses, and helping with farm work.

    Organic/Biological methods we use

We use regenerative principles.    We have predominantly tropical/Summer growing grasses which we direct drill with winter legumes.   We have been gradually planting leucaena/desmanthus to help boost soil fertility and also acts as methane mitigator.  We use cell grazing principles where we graze cattle intensively for just a few days in each paddock.   Our low stress stockhandling ensures cattle are quiet and content.       We are passionate about growing food for our family and have an extensive organic vegetable garden and orchard which provides us with bountiful produce.   We eat our home-produced beef and lamb, and eggs.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

We would like to share our lifestyle with WWOOFers, and similarly learn from them. We have 3 daughters (high school age) and would love them to meet people from different cultures. We both have jobs outside the farm as a veterinarian and agricultural consultant, so look forward to having assistance to help us maintain our beautiful oasis.
