Skills I Want to Learn: Biodynamics practices and techniques, Regenerative Agriculture, Gardening, Animal Care, Dairy
I joined WWOOF because I wanted to experience farm life and animal care in a hands-on, practical way while learning about sustainable living and different cultures. As a veterinarian with a deep interest in horses and rural lifestyles, I felt this would be a meaningful opportunity to connect with nature and people who care about animal welfare and self-sufficient living.

(Letitia) I have done several volunteers on construction working which a different group of people each time, and it was such a great ambiance and kindly experience. I just assume it is a natural way of living and being with the other one. Guillaume has working on apricot harvests during few months and he has enjoyed so much doing the work, meeting friends and being in a rural atmosphere. He has grown up in a small village so he likes when agriculture products are valued and the people who made it. We decided to join WWOOF because we are curious of the way of living in farms or other ecological practices, because we think that alimentation and taking care of our environment is not enought taking seriously this days and we have to adapt our way of consuming. We think that wwoofing is a great opportunity to meet local people, to help them in their daily life and in echange to discover their culture. Local stories are always the best way of travelling.

We have been developing our Permaculture Homestead on our 21ha property for over 3 years now. Equipped with a solid Permaculture skillset, thanks to Bill Mollison‘s legacy and our hands-on approach, we progress further with our plentiful projects: creating a Food Forest, Veggie Gardens, working on Biodiversity, supporting Wildlife and focusing on Regenerative Practises.

Since I was young, I have been interested in raising animals and managing crops, and I like to communicate with foreigners and make memories. Not only can I experience foreign cultures, but I also want to spend my vacation in a cool way. All the Australian memories and photos that I took about 15 years ago have been erased. Not necessarily for this reason, but after that, I have been missing those memories and I want to learn hard at a local farm in a foreign country and communicate actively with foreigners.

I joined WWOOF to try something new, which is the main reason why I came to Australia! There's always something new to learn from such immersive experiences.

Urban farms and productive gardens connected by gates. Joes Connected Garden at Elizabeth Grove grow a vast range of fruit, herbs and veg (along with ducks, chickens and bees); Andrews Urban Farm at Elizabeth East grows veg and fruit, but also has honey production, aquaponics and a flock of prizewinning ducks and chickens. We have two small nurseries and a significant national fig collection as well. Around 15 properties are connected across the two locations, of which around 9 will be available for wwoofing. In our properties we focus on education and host frequent workshops in all aspects of edible gardening and associated horticulture, including propagating, pruning and grafting; resident wwoofers can attend our workshops for free. Wwoofers can gain skills in various aspects of organic gardening, and also in garden-related construction and the use of tools. We are engaged in community development and we host regular activities for local schools, including for indigenous students and those with special needs. We maintain close relationships with grassroots community groups and wwoofers can expect to visit at least one of these in their time here. John, one of our garden owners, is into cooking and loves experimenting and learning new recipes, so when he is available, wwoofers who like food are most welcome. Our giant wood oven at Andrews Urban farm always looks forward to events and workshops with yummy contributions from visitors.😁

We want to travel Australia, experiencing its culture, meeting its people, and learning from them. WWOOF is a fantastic opportunity to stay with locals in beautiful places and learn new skills while contributing to environmentally-conscious projects. Jed would be interested to share knowledge with fellow beekeepers and learn how to grow wildflowers to support his bees as part of his developing apiary and buisness back in Scotland. I'm planning to do a PhD when I get home from Australia and am considering a move towards plant sciences/agriculture so it would be great to acquire some basic plant husbandry skills.

I spend most of my time working remotely in the tech field, and WWOOF feels like the perfect counterbalance — real work, real soil, real people. I joined to exchange energy: to help with physical tasks while learning from people who live close to the land.
