Why I became a WWOOF Host
Few places offer so much diversity in land regeneration, organic production and consumer engagement experiences as Kandanga Farm.
From farming to agritourism, food production to environmental projects – there will be regular daily tasks but also a range of varied experiences building skills and learning across all the enterprises and as such a 3 week min stay is preferred.
We love people with enthusiasm, ability to think for themselves and solve problems on the run, and of course you need a passion for Organic & Regenerative agroecology!
People with practical skills are appreciated- butchering, mechanics, carpentry or general farm knowledge. Perhaps something left field- environmental science, hospitality or the arts?
To learn anything you either need time or money; if you have the time, we can help. Don’t get me wrong, we need help too, we have a busy life between the Farm Store, Organic Beef Brands- K2 Organic Beef & Ecomeat, 4 farms and many community engagements!
The big picture is however for real, nutrient dense, non factory farmed food to become the norm, Regenerative, Organic farming must be profitable (when the true costs of production are accounted for- including environmental). We need your help with this!
If you’d like to stay longer, Internships can be facilitated for 3+ months integrating some exposure to other organic farms in the area and undertaking a project where you can make a real difference.
Learn how to PRACTICALLY and simultaneously improve ecological & production outcomes, the current degenerative land management practices so common in “conventional” farming can slowly be phased out.
Agroecology embraces stacked production, vertical integration & the regeneration of natural systems.
Sure, some of this is hard (but rewarding) work. For those willing to stay a while, you’ll be exposed to many facets of food production, not just doing some gardening (though potentially there’s some of that too).
Engagement of consumers and other farmers through our Kandanga Farm Store and onfarm B&B type accomodation plays an integral part in how to change “the system”.
Having travelled extensively in past years, we understand the long term impact experiences had while travelling have. We hope we are more than a stop-over close to Noosa in the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland (on your way up or down the coast).
