Short Property Description

Gorgeous great ocean road property between Lorne and Apollo Bay, 250 acres of bush with a small permaculture garden and bees, plus kangaroos, wallabies and koalas. Amazing views in a lovely rammed earth architect designed house and about 2km walk to Grey River beach, or 5km drive to Kennett River beach, best for folks with their own transport but can collect and drop off from local towns.

Organic/Biological methods we use

In order to get a permit to build the house I had to clear 70m in every direction from the property to manage bushfire risk.  Subsequently I’ve weeded out the plants I don’t like but allowed native grasses and heath (Victoria’s floral emblem) to regenerate.  In the small garden I am using weed suppression techniques and trying to build the terraced garden one terrace at a time.  I have a few hives of bees and they make delicious (tea tree rich) honey.  This is mostly an environmental recovery gig but there’s a little bit of sub scale farming work to do too.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

I need help to get ready for bushfire season and to improve my small permaculture garden and property. I enjoy cooking for others (lots of home made preserves and sour dough bread, pretty broad range of foods) and meeting people from all over the world.
