I previously worked on an organic farm while in high school and had an amazing experience. Since then, I have thought about getting back into it for some time and think that WWOOfing would be a great avenue to do that. I am also currently working in international development and would be interested to see if this experience would affirm my interest in specializing in agriculture in the future. Through WWOOFing, I am hoping to take a step away from my current corporate life and investigate different lifestyles. I am hoping to enjoy some more time outside, meet new people, and learn more about organic farms and other sustainable practices and philosophy.

To learn some more about life. To work with the earth, not against the earth. To get more experience, more for the life and to meet new lovely people. I like the Idea how this platform worked.

Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and I would really like to experience some farm stays during my gap year in Australia. I volunteered at a turtle sanctuary in Bali and totally loved it. I hope to form new connections and get a better understanding of farm work.

I studied in Wildlife and Environnement, and I think WWOOFING is a great opportunity to realise my wildlife projects, get experiences and meet amazing people. I want to help and share experiences with locals.

I’m interested in farm work .But I haven’t experienced the work so I join WWOOF and I’d like to know a lot of things about farm work and life. It’s fascinating to me to be able to learn about it.

I worked rather than travelled in my gap year and then my university experience was impacted by Covid 19. I want to expand my horizons, get more life experience and meet people in Australia, which I have long been considering as a country that I would be interested to live in. I enjoy spending time outdoors, including regularly walking the family dog.

The months I've spent doing manual labor in a watershed restoration context were honestly just awesome -- I felt my body change with the land that we were working, and it was incredibly rewarding to get home exhausted and knowing I had made tangible progress in the eight hours we were out. I miss the sunshine and dirt and mud and rocks, and want to spend time working for myself, the environment, and y'all (hopefully?) 🙂 I'm very interested in sustainable (and especially traditional/indigenous) ecological knowledge and agricultural practices. I think reevaluating (and, hugely, localizing!) our relationship to food is an existential necessity if we're going to have a livable world in the coming decades -- and I want to put my money, and time, where my mouth is, and learn as much as I can about sustainable farming *in practice* as I can.   As for why I want to join WWOOF Australia, specifically -- I have family in Brisbane who I haven't seen in about six years, and I wanted to begin my journey with WWOOF location that would take me very far away from my comfort zone while still keeping me in roughly the same time zone as someone I could call in case of emergencies, given that this is my first time truly solo travelling. I don't know a huge amount about Australian ecology, but I'm excited to learn (and I plan to do some homework before arriving)!   I plan to begin WWOOFing here around mid-September, and hopefully work on 2-3 different sites down the coast (ideally by train and ferry rather than by air) before returning to the United States for a series of family events in December.

・I have a strong interest in overseas agriculture and lifestyle. Because I’m going to start new job related to support primary industry after returning to Japan. ・I know that I have many valuable experiences I can’t have elsewhere like my current job or normal sightseeing trip. ・Furthermore, I'm looking forward to wonderful meeting host family.

I joined WWOOF to learn about ethical farming practices, and learn from different farmers/hosts hoping to one day implement this on my own property. I also value the prospect and exchange of services this organisation operates. I also hope that down the track this experience will increase my employability in this field, as well as help further inform my practice, integrating permaculture design and urban restoration. I hope to learn from and enjoy the host's idiosyncrasies, get to know people and make friends.

I noticed quickly that the backpacker lifestyle going from hostel to hostel is kind of limiting in getting to know the country and especially the Australians. I did WWOOF in Scottland before and learned a lot about the scottish mentality. I would love to have this experience in Australia again.

Curieux et dynamique j'ai choisi de rejoindre ce réseau parce que je souhaite découvrir de nouvelle choses, et surtout une nouvelle façon d'être hébergé. Curious and dynamic, I chose to join this network because I want to discover new things, and above all a new way of being hosted.

By joining WWOOF, I hope I get the chance to get a more immerse experience into the Australian culture. Especially, another local experience, by spending the time not in a large city within the CBD, but outside of it. By attempting new things, I hope to expand my horizons and have the opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone. Rather than sitting in front of a computer, I like to get some physical work done, while having the possibility to learn about organic farming. I like to gain more practical experience, while learning the intricacies of farming. Furthermore, I like to learn something new, but also to try something different compared to my original profession.

I've WWOOFed for the first time a decade ago in Sweden and had a great time helping a beekeeper there. I'm in Australia for a year on a work holiday visa and so it seemed like a great time to get back into the WWOOFing experience. I'm keen to meet people and experience different ways of farming and I'm also excited to get to do more hands-on tasks after a few years of working a desk-based job!

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
