Wwoofing is the best option to combine learning so much as possible about farming in different countries with different plant cultures and seeing the world. I do Wwoofing since July in different countries in Europe and after Christmas I want to see the other side of the world.   My Instagram: annalenahargens

I decided to join WWOOF because I was already using Workaway during my travels, but after spending some time in Australia I realized that WWOOF offers many more opportunities, especially for those who want to experience life on farms and connect with nature and local communities. I love the idea behind WWOOF — the exchange of help for knowledge, stories, and real human connection. I think it’s a great way to learn new skills, discover the country from a different perspective, and meet people who live in a more grounded and sustainable way. I'm not just looking for a place to stay, but for meaningful experiences that help me grow, challenge myself, and give something back. Working with my hands, learning from others, and living close to the land are things I deeply value. That’s why I joined WWOOF — to be part of something real, helpful, and human.

I joined because I want to break away from the modern cycle of stress. I’m seeking a lifestyle that’s real — grounded in soil, simplicity, and meaningful work. I’m not just looking for a place to stay. I’m looking for connection: to the land, to good people, and to skills that matter. I want to contribute to something worthwhile, learn how to grow and live more sustainably, and reset my mind and body in nature.

I’m drawn to WWOOF as a chance to reconnect with nature and learn about sustainable farming practices. I’m eager to immerse myself in the rhythms of rural life, trading the hustle & bustle of daily life for the tranquility of the countryside. Through WWOOF, I hope to gain hands-on experience in farming and permaculture. I’m excited to contribute to host farms, learn from experienced farmers, and be part of a community that shares my values. I am excited about learning new skills and meeting new friends. It would be doing something that’s out of my comfort zone but I believe it’s worth it!

In April 2019, I met up with my Brazilian friends in New Zealand for a one-month trip, but Ididn’t have the chance to go to Australia, which is very close. The reason for coming to Australia this time is that my Japanese friend, whom I have been friends with for more than 30 years, wanted to come to Australia to experience volunteering on a farm. It inspired me to visit Australia through the opportunity of volunteering and traveling. I have provided unpaid volunteer service in Taiwan for more than thirty years. Served as a volunteer guide for visiting the Presidential Palace and a library management volunteer. Now I have been working as a volunteer in a Buddhist group.

For me, WWOOFing is an incredible opportunity to truly immerse myself in Australian life. I see it as a way to feel useful to the local community, contribute positively, and learn from those who live here. By working alongside locals, I hope to better understand the culture, traditions, and daily life in Australia. Additionally, having guidance for my first steps here will be invaluable. It’s important to me to start my journey in a supportive environment where I can feel connected and have a meaningful exchange with people from different backgrounds. I’m eager to be involved in various tasks and responsibilities and am ready to put in the effort to make a real contribution. WWOOFing represents not only a chance to learn practical skills but also an experience that will help me grow personally. I look forward to this unique opportunity to make connections and friendships as I discover the beauty of Australia.

I just arrived in Sydney for 7 month work and traveling. During that time I want to get to know as much of the aussi culture as possible. And where do you get to know the people better, than while staying and helping a nice australian family? Further I hope to learn some new attributes and skills from you that can teach me something about the worth of our planet and help me to become more independent in the future!

We are looking to gain experience in aspects of farming and general labour to be able to take them forward to possible employment opportunities in the future, so we would relish the chance to get stuck into any task or project that is asked of us to further our knowledge and skill sets whilst also drawing on past experiences to figure things out on the go. I (Iris) have volunteered on an organic farm in Italy, helping to cultivate fruits, vegetables and taking care of the various animals on the farm, which I found to be incredibly rewarding. I have also visited a biodynamic farm in the uk and found the processes used to be fascinating and have always wanted to learn more about how to make food cultivation and animal rearing more sustainable and consequently be able to use that knowledge in everyday life to make more informed choices about the food we buy and eat. I (Malaschy) am looking to get some good experience working outdoors and working with new tools. In the future, i'm interested in trying out tree surgery (arborist) and other general labour jobs so would love to get stuck in and learn more if i got the opportunity.

My friend who is also doing exchange program in Adelaide told me about WWOOF and I feel like I really want to try farm stay. I'm actually interested in agriculture and I was doing volunteer in farm when I was in high school in Japan. Since I came here, I've realized that Australian agriculture is so different from Japanese agriculture and now I want to know what the exact difference is, and I want to feel, learn and experience Australian agriculture.
