I started doing wwoofing as a way to discover what farm life was really like and the different ways of running one. I was really interested to learn more about self-suffiency (for farms working towards it) but also learn more about the practices based on respecting the environment and living entities.

We joined WWOOF as part of our process to extend our Working Holiday Visas, and also because we’re genuinely interested in learning through hands-on experiences and cultural exchange. WWOOFing is a great opportunity for us to connect with local communities, experience farm life, and contribute in a meaningful way. We're both responsible, curious, and excited to learn more about sustainable living, teamwork, and the rhythm of rural life.

I hope to find places where I can meet like-minded people and learn and experience about a lifestyle in connection to nature. I like to work in the farm and wake up with singing birds (not traffic) around.

I'm interested in working on a farm because I want to learn more about agricultural techniques. I already have some experience with fencing, fruit picking, weeding, and pruning, and I enjoy working outdoors and doing physical tasks. When I return to France, I’d like to live in the countryside and grow my own fruit and vegetables — so I see this as the perfect opportunity to learn as much as I can and gain more hands-on experience. I also see WWOOFing as a great way to meet new people, discover different ways of living, and improve my English while contributing to meaningful work.

I’d like to work with animals. I also enjoy chatting with people, and I’d love to meet locals in Tasmania and spend time with my WWOOF host. I used to work as a nurse in Japan. I enjoy working, so I think WWOOF suits me well because it’s not just about traveling but also about helping and working.

We are wanting to spend time away from the city and learn skills toward building a more sustainable lifestyle. We value the idea of sharing and mutual exchange that wwoofing offers. Merryn spent time wwoofing in the early 2000’s and is excited to introduce Erin to it.

We are backpacking through Australia and looking to go out of our comfort zone while experiencing a different culture. WWOOFing is a great opportunity to immerse ourselves in a new country, while learning new skills, meeting new people, and giving back.

I have a deep interest in working with nature in harmony as a lifestyle, a few areas I'd love to learn more about including (but are most definitely not limited to); wild clay and natural glazes, natural arts processes, permaculture principles, organics, regenerative processes, eco housing, the ecosystems and their fluctuations seasonally. Joining WWoof is an opportunity to connect with different communities with different approaches to living with nature, I look forward to hearing different perspectives, learning new skills, landing new understandings and meeting new people and places!

My cousin told me about WWOOF and was very enthusiastic! During my first whv, I Wwoofed at a couple different farms all of which were great experiences. The social contact, contributing to something, getting in a bit of rhythm,... Makes a lovely alternative to life on the road or in the city.

Our property is situated in Geeveston in the Huon Valley. Our 70acre property/farm sanctuary is close to great bush walks and within walking distance to town and buses to Hobart. We rescue and look after a menagerie of animals. At this point we have: chickens, roosters, ducks, pigs, alpacas, goats, sheep, ponies, geese and cows. We are in the process of establishing our property on permaculture principles, and regenerating the land so we can look after more animals in need. Accommodation is seperate from our home and includes: 3 bedrooms, all sharing a kitchen, loungeroom, 2 toilets and 2 showers (one with a bath). We have dinner together most week nights and you cook your own on the weekends.

I joined WWOOF because I wanted to experience life in a completely different environment and learn more about organic farming and sustainable living. By working together with local hosts and sharing daily life, I can improve my English communication skills and deepen my understanding of Australian culture. This opportunity allows me to connect with people from different backgrounds and gain valuable life experiences that I cannot get from just traveling or sightseeing.

5 years ago, I had been New Zealand for 1 year. Several months in the year, I had Wwoofing at 5 places and got so many experiences. It was precious, never forgivable, and very meaningful for me. Thus, I would love my girlfriend to get something like this. Another reason, we quit our job for traveling recently, so we have much time.

I have always been interested in the natural environment, and I am devoted to preserving it. My experience on an estancia in Argentina allowed me to develop this interest, showing me that I feel good working in this kind of environment (farm work, animal care, housekeeping…). Volunteering on organic farms represents an opportunity for me to combine this interest with the practice of English. I will be totally devoted to helping the hosts who welcome me!

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
