Skills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics
My family’s mentality growing up was that a good day meant getting muddy, sweaty, and maybe slightly scratched up and that the only bad days were ones we didn’t spend together. I would love to be able to aid family farms in creating that environment for their community as well. The best way to get to know a place is by meeting the people, and I can’t think of a better way to travel Australia than learning, helping, and enjoying the farms that make up so much of this country.

Mainly because I'm looking forward to extending my Work and Holiday visa, for a second year. But also, because friends of mine have recommended me this beautiful community. I read about it and felt like I really wanted to be a part of it. It just felt right 🙂

Well, when the fruit picking job that was promised fell through, a friend and I got chatting, and she directed me to WWOOFing saying how amazing the community is. So I'm here now while I have some time off:)

To experience something organic where I can gain valuable and relevant knowledge of things that I consider important and life-changing. To meet like-minded people with a wealth of knowledge that they're willing to share. To connect with a variety of people and exchange stories and to have fun.

We travelled around Australia for a few years when Kaiya was young and our WWOOFing experiences were some of the greatest memories of the trip. We experienced everything from weeding, planting, bush clearing, labouring, housekeeping, childcare, cementing, gardening, building, grape picking & permaculture and met some awesome people- phew!! We are looking for opportunities to work on the land, work with animals, learn new skills, meet new people and make new friends.  We are fit, healthy and motivated workers. Kaiya is keen to work with animals because she wants to live on a farm one day. We very much look forward to meeting and staying with you

I'm Melbourne born and bred and I'm looking for a change to city life for a while. I've loved my WWOOFING experiences in the past and I'm keen to explore my beautiful state while working and helping and learning.

Im joining WWOOF because it found me right when I needed it. I am only free when my Gypsy soul is wandering and what better way to do that then in Tasmania’s hidden coves where the real veggies grow.

I joined WWOOF as I'm keen to learn more about soil health and growing food organically. I don't really have much experience in this area other than what I can read or watch...would love to get more hands on and learn from people who know their stuff.

It's long been a dream of mine to own a farm growing organic, spray-free produce. Why did I join WWOOF? For the tomatoes, I guess you could say. I did it for the garlic.

I have some friends who have done WWOOFing who have told me it was the best thing they ever did. I've been desperate to get out of the city for so long, unsure of where to go or what to do or if I'm sure it's "what I want" etc, I've been hesitant to make the move. But I'm so ready to make that shift now, and I just want to learn and gain more experience in farming as that's where my passions lie. I would really love to learn more about sustainable agriculture/permaculture practices as I'd love to one day have a farm of my own on some property, so I'm open to any and all experiences! Currently I am unemployed and have been for some time, my work experience is as a cook in various cafes, but the food wastage in the hospitality industry was doing my head in and not aligning with my ethics so I quit for a time. The last place I worked at was great - it had it's own garden out the back and tried to grow as much produce as it could, with composting and worm farms, which I really loved (but sadly they closed). Ever since then I've been wanting to learn more about food production and how to incorporate it into every-day living in a sustainable way.

Most of what people put in their mouths is garbage. The packed, ultra refined, pesticide laiden food is sending most people toward an early demise. True wealth I believe is the knowledge of where your food is coming from and having access to seasonal organic food and being able to share it with others. As I said above, I would like to run a small scale permaculture farm in the future so the first most logical step in that direction is to volunteer on others farm.

I joined WWOOFing so I could volunteer on a farm in New South Wales in order to meet the 88 day requirement for the working holiday. I'm currently volunteering in a bushfire recovery zone.

I love working outdoors, and find it very meditative (I imagine that might wear off after a while, but for now I love it). WWOOFing for me is a chance to meet new people, learn new skills, and do work I enjoy. I have WWOOFed twice before, and I remember both occasions fondly.

I heard about WWOOFing from the farm I'm currently working on. It's a great concept. I love how you become like part of the family, get all the local knowledge (best secret places to visit) and working outdoors. I'd like to learn more about organic farming and get my fingers a little more green than they already are.

I’m really keen to learn organic farming techniques and learn new skills. I have a tiny bit of experience as my dad grew up on a dairy farm in Goomboorian and I spent time on relatives’ farm in Gympie growing up.

Because of great feedback from friends that have WWOOFed. So I am very interested to see what is available in the northern rivers region for small community style setups or family run property’s in the regenerative farming arena.

We share a huge passion for nature, conservation and organic and natural farming (our dream is to own and run our own farm one day)! As we continue exploring Australia, we hope to continue pursuing these interests and expand our skills.

To work on a ranch, I saw the tv show Yellowstone and decided I wanted to explore that lifestyle. I have always played with the idea of owning a farm for the quiet outdoor life but it makes sense to try it first. I can ride a horse pretty well and a motorbike so I should be pretty handy. Oh and carpentry, I do that too.

AMAZING opportunity to connect with like minds and learn from those more experienced. Interested in meeting anyone making serious ongoing efforts at OFF GRID and/or PERMACULTURE, and willing to share their knowledge. If you are off grid, would love to see your setup and learn how and why you did it. Interested in listening to whatever wisdom you have to share. Interested in learning ANY sort of old fashioned sufficiency skills :-).

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
