City/Town: Mount barker
Farming Methods: Permaculture
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, BYO Accommodation
Ten acres in Mount Barker WA, with panoramic views of the Stirling Range, is in the very early stages of development. My father and I built the main house in 2024 and the commencement of the site plan, designed around permaculture principles, will begin when autumn sets in. I live alone and would appreciate a few extra sets of hands. I have studied permaculture online (Geoff Lawton PDC) which has topped up my knowledge and inspired a life long dream to create a sustainable/productive property - i am always excited to learn from others as I know many hold a diverse range of skills and far greater depth and wealth of knowledge than I. 2025’s aim will be the construction and planting of two major swales, among many other tasks and projects. Many hands make light work and two or more heads are better than one. I will be excited for the opportunity to host equally passionate Permi’s and hard workers to help me to get closer to realising an ambition to live sustainably and produce delicious food.

Hi! I’m joining WWOOF to live closer to nature and learn sustainable farming firsthand. I’m especially interested in working on farms and discovering new organic cultures and cultivation methods. I chose WWOOF because it lets me contribute to organic farming while connecting with people who share my values. It’s a chance to grow both personally and culturally through meaningful work and cultural exchange.

I would like to join WWOOF because I already did once 1 year ago in Ecuador and I just loved it so I would like to do it again. I think this is an incredible way to learn, discover, meet new people, new cultures, new Landscapes and just open your mind.

After many years getting caught up in career and city life, living in Melbourne and Tasmania working in an unsatisfying job, I have returned to Perth and am fortunate enough to have a week-on-week off roster which will allow me the time to get WWOOFing. I currently work in a non-profit organisation which I find very fulfilling, so now I'm looking to get some practical experience on my weeks off before an eventual move to the country. I'm particularly interested in earth-building, renovation and construction, setting up off-the-grid systems and whatever creative projects/ideas you might be working on. I'm looking to gain diverse experience in what it takes to live, and maintain, a rural lifestyle.

I joined WWOOF to connect with locals, contribute to sustainable living, and learn new skills outside of marine work. I enjoy hands-on work, being outdoors, and sharing daily life with others. I’m also looking to slow down, discover new parts of Australia, and give back through meaningful work. WWOOFing is a great way to combine all of that with cultural exchange and new perspectives.

i wanted to learn how different people lived and interacted with the land around them in a positive way. in becoming a woofer i can learn what it means to love myself on a deeper level. i have had a dream for a while of being a farm working hand, that comes and goes from jobs learning so many different things from each place that we go to. this is the best way to do it as working in the city doesn't give me the level of clear level thinking that a country's hard-working life does. it is a way to connect with the land that my ancestors have disconnected from. it is a way to learn how different the land is for each state and town and house in Australia. This land is beautiful and rich with love and knowledge, with poeple that are waiting to be met and connect with to make a family.

While between jobs, we would love to keep ourselves busy and help out like minded people here. We would love to run a small farm  ourselves one day so we really want to learn and experience from others as much as possible while we are on the journey. We have made some very close friends while WWOOFing and had some life changing experiences so since we had the time here, we signed up again.

At 25, I’ve lived a few different lives in France, each one teaching me something valuable. Now, I’m ready for the next chapter, and it’s centered around a few key aspects: Social Aspect: For my personal balance and growth, I’m looking to build stronger social connections with people who share the same values as I do. Wwoofing really resonates with me – the respect for the environment, living in community, and being partly self-sufficient when it comes to energy and resources. It’s all about working and living in a way that’s meaningful and ethical, and I’m excited to be part of that. Professional Aspect and Lifestyle: The different experiences wwoofing offers will help shape my long-term goal of working directly with the land. I’m after something real and hands-on, closer to nature. I’m eager to pick up new skills, challenge myself, and get a feel for what goes into managing different types of farms and sustainable setups. It’s all about doing work that supports the preservation of ecosystems and stepping into the ecological and energy transition we need.

We joined WWOOF because we wanted to do something meaningful by being temporarily part of a local community. For us, it’s not just about travelling, it’s about doing something real, learning new things every day, connecting with new people and hopefully leaving each place a little better than we found it.

I love using WWOOF because it allows me to embrace new adventures and enjoy the excitement of working on a farm. Being active in nature is one of my passions, and your farm provides the perfect opportunity for that. 🌾🐑 I take great pleasure in contributing to daily tasks, whether it's tending to the garden, feeding animals, helping with the harvest or any crazy exercice. 🌏 Furthermore, I look forward to meeting new people, trying local foods, and understanding different ways of life. Overall, WWOOF combines my love for adventure, nature, and cultural exchange into one incredible experience. I am always eager to help out on the farm and learn from you.

We chose to become Wwoofers for several reasons. First, having both families working in the agricultural sector, Australia represents for us an opportunity to discover the agricultural life of another continent and the environmental practices that are developing there. Wwoofing is also for us a way to live a human and cultural adventure by sharing the daily life of families or local communities. We deeply believe that these experiences will strengthen our values of solidarity, our qualities of adaptation and we will learn another approach to agriculture. Finally, we wish to contribute to projects, while refining our skills, learning new techniques and continuing to explore Australia. In short, it is for us a chance to combine our desire to learn, our taste for adventure and our respect for nature, while creating unforgettable memories.

I've always wanted to try farming and slow life experience in a big country Australia! Since I got a working holiday in Aus, I choose Perth to live, not a busy cities in east coast. I love to exchange our cultures, experiences, thoughts and precious moments!

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
