We are gradually restoring a neglected farm, a beautiful 180 acres bordering NP and close to beaches. Low-tech hard work & BD preparations are slowly producing results on our pastures. Our animals are part of the family - Josephine the milking cow, a small beef herd, chooks, ducks & sometimes pigs. Our vegie garden is established, the orchard in the making. Most of our food is produced on the farm, but fishing trips supplement our diet, which is meaty, tasty & healthy. Volunteering includes work in pastures, weeding, raking, fencing, help in vegie garden & orchard, feeding animals and building projects. Own transport preferable to take advantage of the beautiful surrounding area. Caravan accommodation for a single or a couple. No children. Meat-based meals. Non-smokers only. Negotiable stays after first few days. Cannot take WWOOFers during winter.

Sundari has been evolving for over 40 years, first and foremost as a sanctuary for all who live here. We are three shares, living in love and respect for each other. We are all dedicated to the beauty and health of this magnificent land. It is a remarkable arboretum of over 2000 species. I've been working. with permaculture professionally all over the world, and  returned three years ago after 31 years living overseas (mostly India and various parts of Europe). Having designed for so many others, finally it was time to design our own place (my wife Francesca is an Italian agronomist), and build another house (the old one is in the rainforest we planted and in need of restoration as a guest house), almost entirely from the trees we planted three decades ago, all cut and milled within 80 metres of the housesite. The house is now almost functionally complete (the details may take forever!), working on completing a new bathroom/toilet/laundry. Until now, this has been a very 'rustic' bush bathroom; full respect is given to privacy.   We've planted an extensive food forest of diverse species, to add to what remains of the original forest garden, as well as extensive vegetable gardens for our own kitchen, for friends and guests. It's in need of a big refurbishment at the moment, having been neglected while pushing ahead with the construction as the primary priority. This whole land, shared with two others, is a remarkable arboretum of mainly Australian rainforest species, and there are kilometres of footpaths all over the land, giving access to the most beautiful parts of it. One boundary is over a kilometre of stunning rainforest creek, there is a large pond on the land, and the views of the world heritage national parks and caldera of the ancient volcano are spectacular. We eat very well, having an international cooking capacity; we are not extreme, but cook only vegetarian food generally. Currently I'm also designing and implementing a beautiful large (75 hectares-185acre) nearby property, focusing on functional integration of water management, cabinet and structural timbers, rotational grazing, food forest, small cropping and biodiversity. This is a long-term project.

I joined WWOOF because it is a very flexible and cheap way to travel or live on a short term. I moved back to Romania from Australia in 2017 because of my mother healthy issues. This year I am planning to return to Australia because I have already put in place a proper arrangement for somebody to look after my mother. Being an adult person I am considering this return to Australia like a new start in life. Also I need a transition period of time (like a buffer) before joining again the workforce. A good way of taking the stress away from me is to use my hands and brain. If I can be involved in simple activities like wwoof-ing jobs and keep socialising with other people that will a great benefit. In the mean time I can activate my old friends network in a proper way for making a better decisions regarding my future career steps.

Wwoofing is the best option to combine learning so much as possible about farming in different countries with different plant cultures and seeing the world. I do Wwoofing since July in different countries in Europe and after Christmas I want to see the other side of the world.   My Instagram: annalenahargens

We decided to join WWOOF because we wanted to immerse ourselves in the local culture, learn new skills, and give back while traveling. Coming from city life, we were eager to experience a more hands-on, sustainable way of living. We love the idea of helping out in exchange for knowledge, meaningful connections, and unforgettable experiences. WWOOF allows us to meet amazing people, discover different ways of living, and step out of our comfort zone. We enjoy the physical work, the fresh air, and the sense of accomplishment that comes with contributing to a project. Whether it’s gardening, house maintenance, or learning about sustainable farming, we’re always excited to get involved and grow from the experience. Looking forward to meeting more inspiring hosts and fellow travelers along the way! 🌿😊

I joined to learn how to manage land, in hopes that I buy my own land one day. I value connection to food and being sure of its quality. I like the idea of raising a family on a farm one day in the future.

I love traveling, meeting new people, helping out, and being physically active. I'm a nature and bird lover and want to learn more about the Australian wildlife from people who work outside every day. I would love to see a platypus in the wild. I'm looking for small organic farms with kind people.

Our "farm" is 64 hectares. We purchased this property as a "downsize" from our career certified organic farm, which we had run for 47 years. On "Murramia" we have cattle, sheep, hens, a beehive and a garden for beauty and food. We have begun to develop a whole environment design to our new farm with the installation of a dam, associated overflow control drain/swale and a direct seeded treebelt of native species. Our animalls came with us from our previously certified organic farm. We were able to get "Murramia" as a certified organic farm but have decided to dis-continue maintaining certification. We do still continue only using organic practices. Ron has received numerous international and national awards for his sustainable environmental design of agricultural landscapes and recently has become involved in sustainable urban designing using the same whole of environment approach. We have 10 hectares of native bush which if any of our animals are so found within the fenced off area do so under great risk of being "exiled". Suzanne is into granite rocks and patchwork!

I’m here in Australia with my partner Ethan. He is a kiwi from New Zealand and I am from Israel. We are here because we decided that as a couple from different countries Australia can be a good place to settle because Ethan can be here as long as he would like and my working holiday can last for three years. It will give us time to see how things are going and to make our relationship more official by partnership visa. We are looking for places that will make us feel at home and that we would like the surrounding as well. we are both experienced in horticulture and farming, Ethan have a creative mind, he knows a lot about building, fixing things and more.

I joined WWOOF USA back in 2015 which led me down an awesome path in viticulture, plus I met some amazing people. Love the WWOOF program and can't wait to get back into it!

I joined WWOOF because I want to experience Australia in a deeper, more meaningful way. I love the idea of connecting with locals, learning new skills, and being part of sustainable and community-driven lifestyles. WWOOFing is a chance for me to get out of my comfort zone, work with my hands, and learn more about farming, gardening, and eco-friendly practices. I’m also excited to meet like-minded people, share cultures, and create lasting memories while contributing positively to your farm or project.

I’m looking for a peaceful place to stay where I can experience real Australian nature and space. I’m currently searching for a farm job, and I feel that WWOOFing is a beautiful way to stay active, learn new things, and connect with people while I wait for the right opportunity. I’m curious, open-minded, and ready to help with a positive spirit!

Urban farms and productive gardens connected by gates. Joes Connected Garden at Elizabeth Grove grow a vast range of fruit, herbs and veg (along with ducks, chickens and bees); Andrews Urban Farm at Elizabeth East grows veg and fruit, but also has honey production, aquaponics and a flock of prizewinning ducks and chickens. We have two small nurseries and a significant national fig collection as well. Around 15 properties are connected across the two locations, of which around 9 will be available for wwoofing. In our properties we focus on education and host frequent workshops in all aspects of edible gardening and associated horticulture, including propagating, pruning and grafting; resident wwoofers can attend our workshops for free. Wwoofers can gain skills in various aspects of organic gardening, and also in garden-related construction and the use of tools. We are engaged in community development and we host regular activities for local schools, including for indigenous students and those with special needs. We maintain close relationships with grassroots community groups and wwoofers can expect to visit at least one of these in their time here. John, one of our garden owners, is into cooking and loves experimenting and learning new recipes, so when he is available, wwoofers who like food are most welcome. Our giant wood oven at Andrews Urban farm always looks forward to events and workshops with yummy contributions from visitors.😁

I stumbled on WWOOF through a search while trying to find new ways to volunteer in Melbourne. I volunteered a lot in the U.S. so I wanted to be able to continue doing so here. I found WWOOF to be unique since it would allow me to help those who need while also getting to know those in my community.

Riverpines is a 20 year old organic vineyard in the Broke Forditch region of the Hunter Valley. Set up in the late 90's as a top shelf grape producer it has great bones. The new owners are working on a transition to a more integrated farming approach bringing in a variety of other produce and companion livestock. With a focus going forward on using biodynamic principles Riverpines is set for interesting times. Come and join us for a few days or move in for a while... Kind regards, Simon

We decided to join woofing to help us integrate more easily into Australian society while working. Indeed we are sociable and we like contact with people as well as discovering new cultures. We took a Working Holiday Visa in order to work. Through woofing we will be happy to be able to help families in their work and their daily life. Looking forward to meeting you soon 😉

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
