I first heard of WWOOF through a friend. She had a surprisingly similar background to me, a young Boston college student interested in exploring a new field. When I asked her about her summer, she described an incredible experience of going abroad and helping at a vineyard. She described WWOOF as an opportunity to help others and experience a new culture while gaining valuable skills. WWOOF sounded like a dream come true for me. I appreciated WWOOF’s emphasis on sustainability and organic farming and felt that reaching out through WWOOF would be a productive learning experience for me.

we chose to join wwoof to discover the country through families or people. indeed, living with a person have really learned to know her, and thus to discover the country through her people. we have also joined wwoof to learn farm life, learn how to cultivate, and above all to do this while being respectful to the environment because at this time, it is a real necessity. Finally, the concept is very cool, simply!

I joined WWOOF to take the opportunity to reconnect with the land and refresh my farming skills.  I sincerely hope to have the opportunity to help you on your farm, and in so doing help make your life a little easier.  I look forward to continuing my transition back onto the land via your farm.  It is my hope to learn all I can from you and contribute to your farm and agricultural business running well.   I look forward to meeting you!  ?

My whole life, I have always lived by the mold and focused heavily on academics, and immediately after school, I went straight to a full-time office job. I would like to do something completely new and out of the ordinary for me, and get myself out of my comfort zone. I love the outdoors and love meeting people, and Australia has always intrigued me

I joined WWOOF to travel differently, meet others and learn new skills. For too long I lived in big cities and anytime I can, I escape to the nature. Recently I have been involved with a lot of farmers since we organize a big market in Marseille where local farmers can come sell their products and give awareness on a more healthy way of eating and cultivating. As I interviewed most of them, it was clear for me that this was the next step in my life.

I joined WWOOF with the main intention of gaining experience in the animal and veterinary field by working with a variety of animals. Although I am mainly looking to work with animals, I am happy to help with any chores if need be. Additionally, I felt like joining WWOOF would give me a new found appreciation for the agricultural industry (which is inherently important), as well as a new experience that would most likely be quite surreal.

Australia is known for its nature and agriculture. Being a HK citizen, there is not much chance for me to enjoy nature. As I am having holiday, I would like to get closer to the nature and away from hectic lifestyle, skyscrapers , electronics and busy traffics. I just want to experience a complete opposite - comfortable and healing lifestyle. I would like to try agriculture and rearing too! These are something we rarely do in HK. Apart from farming that attracts me to join WWOOF, I also anticipate to stay in host family in which I can interact with locals and explore Australian local cultures. It will definitely be cozy and I think that's the best way to understand a culture and a country as well!

FB: The 242Ha property has several forests converging on each other as more of the property recovers from salinity.  The word Auria is derived from removing the letters salt from the word Australia. Here volunteers have the opportunity to improve their English while participating in exciting arid region forestry research. 'Auria' has twice been a finalist in the UN Assoc. of Aust. 'World Environment Day Awards'. The research will help address climate change, recover degraded agricultural land and enable agro-forestry to operate in regions previously considered too dry. Work includes ground preparation, planting trees, pruning, mowing for weed control, etc. Many WWOOFers have extended their stays and recommended 'Auria' to their friends. Accommodation is in modern home, long stays preferred after initial 2 week trial. NO SMOKING, DRUGS or CHILDREN.   NOTE: We are 2  1/2 hours from Perth Airport
