i join wwoof to keep in contact with nature, not many people have the will of using their bodies to make places more able to live in, so my idea is to help locals to recover places from the damages created by flads and burns. australia is a beutiful and wild country as well, so is important to me not only be here for tourism, but also to be envolved with local people and local nature to know it better

I’m on my first working holiday visa in Australia, and I’m looking to expand my work experience and to try something completely different from what I’m used to. I think farm work would be a good challenge for me.

I joined wwoof to work on the land and to get know people. I am used to working on our organic small holding back home in Italy and enjoy working outdoors and doing manual work.

Skills I Want to Learn:
Initially, I solely wanted to visit a friend, but since Australia is a long travel from Germany I took my chance to stay for longer and learn about the Australian lifestyle, countryside and ecosystem. I want to see something else and get new perspectives. I am treating this like a few gap months from home and to get myself clear about a few decisions in my life. And I definitely try to skip winter time.

We joined WWOOF because we want to experience Australia as more than just a tourist destination. Working on a farm will hopefully give us the chance to meet locals that we otherwise would not have met and explore their culture on a deeper level. We are very interested in sustainable living and eager to gain more knowledge and to learn new skills along the way.

We are attracted to nature and agriculture, so we would like to take the opportunity to learn more about difficult work and to help during our stay. For us, life with the hosts in different countries would be a very new experience and a varied way of spending our vacation and being useful at the same time.

We are currently travelling around Australia together for the next 2 1/2 months and would love the opportunity to volunteer and see some areas that other tourists may miss. We both have volunteering background and would love to volunteer whilst exploring Australia.

The first reason is I would like to know people’s life in Australia. I’ve heard that people’s happiness level is high there, and I'm willing to experience living there. I would like to enjoy the life in Australia and difference between Japan and Australia. The second reason is I love nature and would like to work in farms even for a short period. So for me, WWOOF seems the best choice, and have decided to join it. To summarize it, I would like to experience life in Australia and enjoy its nature by working in farm!

I joined WWOOF because it was recommended to me by a friend who is currently traveling round Australia. It seams like a great way to meet local people and experience a place through an insider perspective. It is economical for me and benefits local people as well. I am also interested in caring for the environment and sustainability, which is something I am looking at as a possible career.

Skills I Want to Learn:
I want to wwoof because I am passionate about permaculture, regenerative agriculture and agroecology. I worked at the Pomona College Organic Farm for two years and currently am completing an internship at Coastal Roots Farm. In both these positions I have gained a good understanding of organic farming - doing tasks such as pruning, transplanting, propagation, weeding, harvesting and general farm maintenance. I am hoping to continue learning through wwoofing and seeing how farms vary and use different practices and methodology. I believe that the key to building strong and resilient communities centers on sustainable food systems and the more hands-on experience I can get the better. I am always looking to gain more knowledge about organic farming practices and love meeting and learning from new people.

While travelling we would still like to educate ourselves, especially about the culture and the animals from Australia as well as farming. We love meeting new people and work with them in a team. WWOOFing could give us the opportunity to do this.

My most significant reasons to join WWOOF are to doing something good for the nature and meeting new people. But I also want to learn about the Australian culture and how to grow your own healthy food. I hope with WWOOF I can connect with the nature and get time for myself. I will learn about sustainability and farming in Australia.

I have always wanted to do WWOOFing since I first heard of the concept. I think it is a wonderful way to see a country and stay with residents whilst being productive and having purpose. I love the idea of living sustainably off the land, ideally in an organic way that doesn't harm the soil and local environment. I am excited by the prospect of messaging hosts and getting my stay confirmed.

I think that Woofing is a good way to travel, learn new things and discover people. I really loved my past woofer experiences in France. I did it several times: in goat farm, veggie farm, etc. at different season and different places. I am really sensitive to the environmental cause and in my opinion, travelling with Woofing is a good way to travel taking time to discover a place and people. Helping and learning new things makes me happy and feeling useful. So, I hope to share a new experience with you ! 🙂
