I’m traveling alone in Australia, and I would like to discover new cultures and traditions, meet new people and immerse myself in the real Australia. I want to be more connected to nature and I like to help. So woofing is the perfect thing for me.

I joined WWOOF through American Institute of Foreign Studies (AIFS) and am interested in learning about life on Australian Organic & Permaculture farms and learning about growing and producing organically. WWOOFing offers an enriching opportunity to not only explore new places but also immerse oneself in the local culture. Through this program, travelers can connect with host families and communities, gaining a deeper understanding of their traditions and way of life. Additionally, WWOOFing provides hands-on learning experiences in sustainable farming practices and organic gardening, fostering personal growth and environmental awareness. As a cost-effective way to travel, it allows individuals to save money on accommodation and meals while exchanging their time and labor for valuable knowledge and experiences, ultimately promoting a sense of global citizenship and responsible travel.

I like rural life and farming. When I was a junior high school student, I left the city where I lived and went to the countryside to study abroad for a year. I would like to spend my time off to study English while helping out with farming in the countryside, which I love. I want to learn English before I go back to Japan!

I went to a secondary school with an agricultural background. Many of my fellow classmates came from farms and we learned a few things about food, its origin and farming. I consider a little hands on farm stay a valuable life experience which honestly everyone should try at least once. WWOOFing has been on my bucket list for a while because it is a great oportunity to really get to know the locals and hopefully learn some new usefull skills. Since a longer stay in one place is usually beyond the travel budget, this is a perfect way to get to know the country and its people authentically.

I did woofing in Australia 15y ago and loved it. We are now traveling around the world. We did woofing in Japan already. We feel that woofing is a level beyond basic tourism. We meet real habitants, we share and understand their values and what they like about the country, we go out of the common tourist tracks and discover the real country, and of course we optimism our budget. We are sensitive to the organic approach.

I have enjoyed WWOOFing in three different countries before and absolutely love it! I love WWOOFing because not only do you get to learn new things, you also get to experience life in a new place on a very intimate level. I have made lifelong friends from my travels and WWOOfing adventures, and memories that I cherish. I have a passion for food and I would love to have my own sustainable farm someday in the future. WWOOF is the perfect opportunity to brush up on some of the skills I have acquired and add some new ones to my repertoire. I am also excited to experience life within the community I am WWOOFing within.

Skills I Want to Learn:
We think it will be a great experience for our family to experience live on and the workings of an organic farm. We are sure it will provide us all with so many insights and experiences that we can bring into the rest of our lives. Furthermore, we love to meet new people and this seems like a great way to do it!
