I joined WWOOF because I believe it’s the best way to truly get to know a place — by becoming part of someone else’s story. I’m especially drawn to hardworking people who live in connection with the land. Staying in one place for a while gives me grounding and a sense of belonging that fuels the journey ahead.

I am so interested in the people who run farms, how they do it and what keeps them going. I hope to learn from hosts and other wwoofers and do as good a job as I can along the way.

Amberly is a 250 acre, family run cattle and free-range egg farm close to the Murrumbidgee River and conveniently located in the suburbs just 20 minutes from the centre of Canberra. 3000 unfenced chickens are free to range at will, protected by our beautiful Maremma guardian dogs. We have a large vegetable garden, a recently established mixed orchard and bees for family use. We firmly believe that sustainable farming means looking after the environment as the first priority. We have recently been received a national award from Landcare Australia for Innovation in Agriculature and Land Management. Work includes fencing, weeding, mowing, gardening, landscaping and working with the farm animals. Longer stays often see wwoofers learning new skills by getting involved in projects where we are building new infrastructure on the farm. Accomodation in our passive solar straw-bale house.

I would like to live and cultivate a deeper relationship with the land that provides us with so much, food, shelter, protection. I was born and raised in the beautiful mountains of the Himalayas and grew up in a small town in Srinagar, Kashmir. I have always had a deep longing to get back into the mountains into nature where I feel most comfortable, and now as life has it I am in a position to be able to work from anywhere and have enough resources to be learning and participating in activities that truly feed my soul, one of which is teaching meditation which I have been doing for a while and the other is to learn how to become self sustainable, growing my own food through regenerative methods, where the soil is replenished rather than stripped from its important nutrients. Therefore I find myself, joining this woofing community to work remotely and on my free time engage closely with the land and a community of people who have been doing this sacred work. It would be a dream come true for me to be able to live and learn from someone who has been successful in building a nurturing self sustainable community.

We have dreamed about moving to a larger piece of land for awhile but feel quite overwhelmed with the idea. We would love to experience the reality of farm life to get a sense of how or if it might fit with our family lifestyle. We also just generally love learning new things and having different experiences.

We live in the city and need to break the familiar work, home, sleep, repeat cycle for a bit. We have decided to take 5 weeks off to head from Brisbane down to Tasmania to see if we might be able to catch the Aurora and connect more with nature. We hope that WWOOfing will give us the loose structure that a break often needs, collecting fire wood, building fences, tending to animals, helping maintain structures, cultivating plans, in a different scenery, and sharing life on property. We think this will be a wonderful experience for our children too - there is so much to experience beyond our state!

I have a deep passion for nature and our beautiful planet, and intend to tread lightly and live as sustainably as I can while I'm here. I would LOVE to live as part of an off grid community, and so I want to learn as much I can about organic farming, and alternative lifestyles. I love learning new skills!

Skills I Want to Learn: Gardening, Dairy, Cheese making
Having lived in a fast-paced city like Seoul, I’ve always longed for a chance to slow down and reconnect with nature. I believe that working on a farm, living sustainably, and being part of a community that values the earth is an experience that will enrich my life in ways I can’t yet imagine. I also see WWOOF as a chance to challenge myself—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. I want to step away from the comforts of city life, learn to work with my hands, and experience a lifestyle that is deeply rooted in nature and simplicity. Beyond the work itself, I’m excited about the people I’ll meet along the way. I believe that every place has its own rhythm, and every person has a story to tell. I hope to learn not only about organic farming but also about different perspectives, ways of life, and the kind of wisdom that comes from living close to the land.

Before coming to WWOOF, I spent three months living in Sydney. I was transferred from the interior design company I worked for in Korea to its Australian branch. Although it was a short time, it made me realize that I wanted to stay in Australia longer. That’s why I’ve decided to meet the requirements to extend my visa—and joining WWOOF is one of the ways I’m doing that. But more than just ticking a box, I wanted to make this working holiday experience truly meaningful. I hope that when I look back on my time in Australia, I’ll have no regrets—and that’s what brought me here.
