I want to join WWOOF because I’m eager to get my hands dirty and dive into sustainable farming! It’s the perfect way to connect with nature, meet awesome people from around the world, and have some fun adventures. I can’t wait to learn new skills and enjoy the simple joys of rural life!

As much as we love travelling and spending quality time as a family, we have really missed working and being apart of a community. After spending a couple of weeks in Biloela helping out on a cattle farm, we feel in our hearts that being rural, getting stuck into work and enjoying farm life is where we are happiest, which is why we wanted to join WWOOF! We feel that this will provide us with a sense of community, a sense of purpose outside of being parents, it will teach us new skills we hope to use when we own our own property one day (fingers crossed) and we know our son will flourish out in the fresh air with all of the animals!

I joined WWOOF to pursue my passion for organic farming while traveling and to meet new farmers around the world. I enjoy growing food and flowers and being outside. I love traveling and travel a lot for my work. Prior to attending the University of Texas at Austin I spent my senior year of high school studying abroad in a small town in southern Spain. I have also taught English in Japan for one year. I have been gardening for about 15 years and have volunteered at some farms here in Austin, Texas. I like manual and physical labor and being outside, so being able to do this in another country is a great opportunity.

We love to meet new people and acquire new skills. We love the idea of sharing experience especially with people from other countries and with different backgrounds. WWOOF looks like the best option to get in contact with the local reality across the Australia landscape that would be generally left aside from other travellers.

I previously had the experience of working on a farm in Uenomura, Gunma Prefecture, Japan. It was there that I learned about WWOOF, and I decided to try it while traveling abroad. I believe it is important to grow what you eat, which sparked my interest in agriculture. Among various agricultural practices, I am particularly interested in production methods that do not rely on chemical fertilizers, and when I start my own farming, I want to challenge myself to use natural methods, so I hope to learn as much as I can. Additionally, since WWOOF offers the opportunity to experience agriculture in various parts of the world, I think it provides the perfect environment for me to experience both travel and farming. I am looking forward to experiencing different terrains, climates, and cultures that are unlike the environment I have lived in until now.

I want to learn more about sustainable farming practises and land use. I love travelling and seeing new places and meeting new people but I am not good at being "on holiday", if you know what I mean. Staying and working on an unusual, innovative farm with open, welcoming people sounds like a wonderful time to me.

I joined to meet people who are as passionate about bush regeneration as I am! Over 7 years, I manually removed the introduced and invasive weed - buffel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris) - from my 2.5 acre Land for Wildlife (LFW) bush block in the central desert. It was rewarding seeing so many native plants sprout in the areas that buffel once grew! I enjoyed it so much that I started my own "buffel busting" business and dug out buffel grass from other LFW blocks, as well as helped environmental/land management groups remove it from riverbeds, crown lands, botanic gardens, ephemeral wetlands/claypans and other areas in the central desert. I also have extensive experience with removing these weeds from land in south-east Queensland and northern NSW: - Cobbler's pegs (Bidens pilosa) - Fireweed (Senecio madagascariensis) - Morning glory - purple (Ipomoea indica) - including thick infestations in creeks and vines wrapped around shrubs & trees Now that I’ve retired, I have more time & energy, as well as the skills & experience to help others regenerate and rehabilitate their land. For the last six months of 2024, I was a live-in volunteer at a retreat/meditation centre on a 2.5 acre LFW property in the central desert.

I've been living in central Melbourne from the beginning of my stay in Australia. Now I feel like that I know about very little part of this country. I want to spend my time in different situations.

I am very keen to work with animals, particularly their rehabilitation. I have been very busy and now excited for a little reset. I am wanting to use this time to learn as much as I can about wildlife and excited by the idea of helping around a farm, helping with vegetation.

I decided to join WWOOF because I thought it would be a great opportunity to work on farms, take care of animals, connect with nature, and learn more. I found out about WWOOF while looking for a farm to get my second visa. I have always loved nature and animals and have had the chance to be around them since I was a child. I was interested in learning more about it in a more specialized way, so I thought this would be a great opportunity.
