Skills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics, Biodynamics practices and techniques
Since I was little I wanted to explore the world and go traveling. Now as I'm finally able to I'm looking forward to new experiences. As I'm someone who is very open and kind I'm very excited to meet new people and learn about other cultures. WWOOF is the perfect opportunity for me to combine movement by working and meeting new people. I'm a very active person who does not mind getting their hands dirty. So I'm excited about participating in WWOOF Australia!

Lovely mixed farming in the hinterland of Coffs Harbour. Spring fed creeks with waterfalls and swimming. We drink our creek water and use it in our house. Busy farm with lots of animals including sheep, goats, horses, cattle, poultry and donkeys. Must love animals and be able to work closely with them. We are pretty much self sustainable and harvest our own food from our gardens and animals, so also have to be comfortable with this. So much to do in the gardens, animal husbandry and general farm work (lots of shovelling poo!!). Beautiful countryside with beaches and Coffs Harbour within an hour of home. Friendly hosts who have a lot of fun in the community. The accommodation is outstanding, although shared with five dogs and orphaned animals. I have lived all over the world so am understanding of travel and cultures. Would love to share our paradise with others who are eager, enthusiastic, energetic and friendly. Lots to do in your time off around the area.

I was drawn to WWOOF to gain a different experience of Australia to that found in hostels. For me, it is a chance to break away from the busy backpacker towns and to rediscover a more peaceful environment. I also hope to learn more about Australian culture and people, and of course work on some valuable practical skills that I wouldn’t ordinarily get the opportunity to learn. I am keen to get stuck in!

We believe WWOOF can offer us the chance to break free from the confines of our studies and immerse ourselves in the heart of nature. We truly believe that through this, we get to learn, cultivate new experiences and find new perspectives. Not just in the field of farming, but also to learn independecy. We also believe that this trip can help us learn not just about nature, but also more about ourselves.

I want to work at a winery in Australia because I am considering pursuing a career related to wine in the future. I find great value in gaining experience in the actual field.

While I have experience with farm animals in the USA and the Caribbean, I'd really like to learn more about how farm animals are raised in other parts of the world and with other farming systems. I know that there are many ways to raise animals and I believe it's important to get more perspectives. Most farms I worked with in California were large scale intensive systems, so now I'm very curious about smaller scale and organic systems. Learning other means and methods of animal husbandry and food production will also help me as a veterinarian, especially if I choose to live in another country.

I was a Girl Scout in junior high school, so I've done a lot of volunteer work. I knew that WWOOF existed in Japan but I had never participated, so I decided to try it out in Australia this time.

I joined WWOOF in hopes to find accommodation for my dog and I and hopefully gain some valuable work experience in farming, working with wildlife and/or environmental work and a connection to community. I am primarily looking for housing for roughly 6 months minimum after an initial visit of 2 weeks to a month, preferably close to Tenterfield, stanthorpe, DeepWater and Glen Innes areas in NSW and would prefer to only volunteer about 10 hours a week average so that I can continue to focus on my studies, however I am flexible depending on circumstances. I am flexible on accommodation type. I'd be happy in a little cabin or a shed to put my caravan in or just out in the open, but I'll need a yard (however small) to contain the dog (I am happy to supply star pickets and wire myself if you prefer if an existing fence isn't available).

I joined WWOOF to reconnect with nature, learn about farming practices and exchange ideas with passionate people. It's a way of getting concretely involved in environmental projects while discovering other cultures and ways of life. It would also enable me to acquire new skills while living enriching human experiences.
