City/Town: The Channon
Farming Methods: Permaculture
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, BYO Accommodation
Grace Residence, Paradise House is a large straw bale, earth rendered pavilion style homestead surrounded by a lush one-acre, 26-year-old established sub-tropical food forest and a 3 million litre picturesque dam. We have 5 acres, with handy Zone One and Zone Two food gardens and a productive orchard with a large variety of common and exotic fruit tree guilds, berries, and nut tree guilds. Our homestead grazing paddock is just under 2 acres. Our surrounding farm is 66 acres and is used to graze jersey cows, horses, miniature goats, and chickens in chicken-tractor. Our animal systems are often set up on a rotational or holistic management basis. We are located in the Sub-tropical bioregion of the beautiful, fertile, Byron Bay hinterland on an organic permaculture demonstration farm with a Permaculture Education Centre and Camp, commercial kitchen and campground facilities on suite. You have the option of camping on platforms in the campground or joining us at Paradise House, our residence as a guest border. The property has been the base for the International Permaculture Research Institute and is now an Eco Hamlet. The Channon village is just across the river. The Channon is home to Australia's original art, craft, and farmers market, which we enjoy every month. We are surrounded by three beautiful rivers and have proven to be floodproof due to our extensive water management and water channeling systems across our 66-acre property. The iconic village of Nimbin is only 20 minutes away and as professional artists and musicians, we enjoy the creative and permaculture-friendly lifestyle and international expertise of both permaculture and the arts that thrive in this region.

I joined WWOOF to learn about organic and regenerative agriculture in Australia, which has the largest organic farmland in the world. Among them, I am particularly interested in regenerative agriculture, and through WWOOF I hope to gain knowledge and experience in regenerative agriculture, and in the future I would like to become an organic and regenerative farmer in Japan or Australia! I am a beginner in farming, but my passion is second to none! Please accept me and I will not make you regret it!

In exchange for free room and board and complimentary meals, work and assist the land or any other chores the host requests as a volunteer, that sounds awesome to me, doesn’t it? The reason, why I joined WWOOF, is that I really like the idea of getting the opportunity to travel the world and experience different cultures with the help of this program. It’s exactly what I was looking for. Living on a farm, getting in contact with the locals, get to know farm life, animals and plants better, acquire more and more skills,… these are goals I’m looking forward to. And last but not least, having a good time with hopefully beautiful people as hosts. Laugh, live and share great moments together, that’s what I’m dreaming about and that’s the reason I’ve joined WWOOF.

City/Town: Maldon
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, Caravan
54 acres, 5kms from Maldon. The property is picturesque with panoramic views, large rocky granite outcrops & a swimming hole, but very dry in summer. It adjoins the forest at the foot of Mt Tarrengower. I am in the process of regenerating large areas back to native bushland, have building projects, including finishing touches to my poured earth house and general farm work. I have clean accommodation & can adjust meals accordingly. I like showing people the many wonderful sights of the area & I enjoy cultural exchange. Can P/U in Castlemaine & Bendigo with prior notice. Maldon has a very artistic and creative community and I can play and teach the Harp.

I joined WWOOF as I feel it would be positive experience and an interesting way to explore Australia whilst helping the agricultural side of this beautiful country. I enjoy a challenge and being in a rural environment and working with my hands and body therefore feel WWOOFing would be well suited to me and I’m in a place where I am able to do this at this moment in time.

Aligned with my interest, by joining WWOOF I hope that I’ll get an opportunity to live and work on a farm, providing an authentic experience of the local culture and way of life. I discovered it recently and became too excited to try it myself. I think WWOOFing is a wonderful way to merge my interest in travel with hands-on experiences on farms around the world. Hope it will be an exciting journey, where not only gain valuable agricultural skills but also forge connections with like-minded individuals and contribute to sustainable farming practices. WWOOF community offers a unique opportunity to learn, grow, and cultivate a deeper understanding of our planet. I'm thrilled to be a part of this global network and eagerly look forward to the enriching experiences and friendships that await.

I love animals and the nature. I like to work physically. I hope to get new animals and new humans as a friend:) besides I know how hard it can be(even if it's the dream of life) to work every day on a farm and thats why I want to help farmers with their work.

Our goal is to discover other cultures than our own and to gain an open mind in the simplest and most local way possible. We would like to live an experience with local people to learn more about the culture and customs of the same country. Wwoofing on an agricultural farm, meeting people, developing the local language, working on the market gardens or being in contact with a place of education are for us a real opportunity to grow and open up to other cultures.

I want to learn more about organic farming, permaculture, nature conservation, off grid living and traditional building. I'm interested in living in a smallholding/intentional community in future. I've been part of several land-based projects in Bristol, including working at a farm with adults with disabilities, as well as working at forest school holiday camps. I’ve also volunteered for a community market garden and wildflower nursery. I really enjoyed this experience, and want to build on the basic organic growing and animal care skills that I've learned.

I really stumbled across WWOOF on my own as I was looking for volunteer/short term working experiences on farms across Australia. My brother and a few close friends are currently road tripping around Australia and I heard they were picking up work and cool experiences as they went. Naturally I went googling as that sounded so great and I was tied to Brisbane for the short term. I checked with a friend who had heard good things so decided I should sign up! I plan to spend 1-2 months (around December, January and February) similarly travelling and as mentioned above, trying out the farming lifestyle.
