I joined WWOOF to experience Australia through a more unique lens. I know many people who have tried WWOOFing and have heard nothing but positive, exciting and fulfilling stories. I’m travelling to Australia from Canada and I’m looking to step outside my comfort zone and try working and living in new ways. I hope to gain skills in different fields, learn valuable life lessons and meet many brilliant people. As someone who tries to live life to the fullest, and say yes to opportunities, I believe that WWOOFing will be able to provide me with so much wisdom and experience. I am eager to try new things, challenge my sense of self and grow as a person. WWOOF can help me achieve these goals, work on myself, and provide me with the adventure of a lifetime.

City/Town: Goongerah
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, Separate Building
Small picturesque farm of 15 acres on rich river flats surrounded by forests & mountains. The Snowy National Park is to the west, the Errinundra NP to the east while the Brodribb wilderness feeds the river in between at Goongerah, a small settlement of about 35 people. This eco-friendly, mixed farm is shared by chooks, geese, milking goats, Clydesdales, wildlife, a dog, guinea pigs and an infamous environmentalist. The fully-netted orchard, booming vegie/flower/herb garden and animals provide most food needs, with food preserving a major part of autumn work. Self-sufficient in fruit, veg, milk, eggs (still working on chocolate). Solar panels power the slab-log home. A wood stove provides heating, hot water and meals. Comfy room for guests. I have written for 'Earth Garden' magazine for about 30 years so visitors can see many of these practical ideas in action. Vegetarian tucker. No smoking inside. Own transport helpful as I'm 70 kms from Orbost and the nearest bus stop. (Mail - Locked Bag 3, Orbost 3888).

We joined WWOOF for the great experience it offers and the opportunity to meet new people. It is also a great way to save money and still have a brilliant time. WWOOF also seems like an amazing way to grow as people and learn more about yourself. We hope to use this to see Australia from a different perspective to our other travels.

I love being outside and working with my hands. I also want to travel in a sustainable manner. I have interests in living sustainably and would be interested in trying to grow my own food for sustenance one day. I just want to learn!

I joined WWOOF to live new experiences and do things I couldn't imagine doing before. I've grown up in a dairy farm and I'd like to discover new types of farms. With WWOOFing I'd meet people I wouldn't meet in other situations and create good memories with them

My Dad travelled to Australia as a young man and his adventures in Oz are some of his favourite memories. I too would love to do my own exploration! I believe WWOOFing is a great way to meet new people, explore exciting new environments and have memorable experiences. Other people I have spoken to who have been WWOOFing speak so highly of their experiences. I also love the fact this is a way to make a positive impact on the environment while working in a sustainable and ethical way!

I joined woof because I want to meet people living in Australia to discover the different customs, and their ways of working and living. It would also allow me to discover new jobs because I am currently questioning my future professional life. But still because woof seems to be a platform allowing people without much means to exchange its services for accommodation.

My early 20s were spent WWOOFing around the place, particularly around the USA. When I came back to Aus I did a PDC in Berry, NSW, and found that WWOOFing was just such a joyous way to travel and meet people whilst also contributing to great local communities. I think its the best way to travel, as you get to actually help and be involved in local communities whilst being somewhere away from home. So I owe a lot to this community!

My Name is Quinn Daly. I am 19 years old. I grew up in far North Queensland, Cairns. I had a lot of exposure to gardening and being around animals but never on a farm. I currently live in Carlton, Melbourne. I want to WWOOF because I see agriculture as a potential career path and would like to get practical experience. I have worked as a kitchen hand, a life guard, and a baker. I studied Arts at the University of Melbourne. In the future I would like to learn carpentry. I would like to stay for at least 10 days with a host. I have no allergies or dietary requirements. I don’t smoke. I would like to learn how to grow organic fruit and vegetables and everything involved. I want to WWOOF to learn skills, meet people, see more of Victoria and gain experience on a farm. I am very used to physical labour and long hours and early mornings working as a Baker. In my free time my favourite thing to do is go to different bakeries. try their coffee and croissants. In the future I would like to open my own bakery.

I've joined WWOOF as I'm looking for an opportunity to get out of the big smoke and see more of Australia, while also learning more about permaculture and organic farming as it is something I'm really passionate about and interested in. I'm very much a hands on learner and would love the opportunity to meet new people and learn new things.

WWOOF is a network of organic and responsible farms and businesses I totally support. I’m deeply concerned about the clime crisis and wish I can do more to accelerate our green and ecological revolution

We want to share wwoofing experience with our kids. They love playing in nature. We prefer staying in country side and sharing your lifestyle, experience, culture, food etc to just sightseeing.

I'm interested in food production, particularly horticulture, where the impact on the land and the health of the land and community is considered. I like being out and doing things and I think I have some basic horticultural skills that would be useful to host farms

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
