Skills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics, Biodynamics practices and techniques
I am interested in connecting with the land and ecosystem that my mom and grandparents were shaped by. I want to move more towards regenerative land-based practices in my life, and I am also eager to connect with Australians outside of the typical tourist-based economy while I am visiting. I am very eager to help out hard-working farmers/ranchers and learn what I can along the way about tending to the earth in a variety of biomes.

Abracadabra Farm has done a full circle from being well on the way to include community to now, a blank canvas. It is 20 acres situated in the beautiful Shoalhaven with a kinescope of activity available at your fingertips such as snorkeling, fishing, boating, hiking, horse riding, kyaking, motorbike ,mountain bike riding that is ready to tap into to appreciate this world for what it is….remarkably magical! The vision for Abracadabra is to develop through inclusion of having a vision of abundance of food, flowers and workshop's that awaken and guide us to inner peace. The goal is simple.. to build community that are aware, sustainable, have conscious values through developing understanding of mindfulness, homesteading, permaculture and harmonious connection to self and country. It all sounds a bit hairy fairy!! Well it’s not..Practical skills in building and livestock management including horses, cows and chickens are highly recommended.

I join WWOOF because I like to share part of my visa with Australian people : learn how do you live, discover your routine, but also to help you ! It also helps me improve my English. I find that woofing is a good exchange: I help you in your daily life, and you allow me to live with people from a country that I love very much.

I joined WWOOF because I wanted to experience a more meaningful and hands-on way of discovering Australia. I'm really interested in learning about sustainable living, farming, and connecting with people who have a strong relationship with nature. WWOOF is a great way to exchange help for knowledge, share cultures, and live something different from the usual backpacker experience. It’s not just about saving money – it’s about learning new skills, being useful, and creating real connections with locals.

We joined WWOOF because it provides a unique opportunity to combine travel, cultural exchange, and hands-on learning experiences. We wanted to immerse ourselves in local communities, discover sustainable living practices firsthand, and gain practical skills in areas like organic farming, gardening, and eco-friendly construction. WWOOF offers the perfect platform for us to connect with like-minded individuals who value nature, hard work, and a more environmentally conscious lifestyle. For us, it’s not just about volunteering—it’s about embracing new experiences together, stepping out of our comfort zones, and contributing to meaningful projects that promote sustainability. We were drawn to the idea of learning directly from experienced hosts while helping to create a positive impact on their farms and properties. WWOOF also allows us to deepen our understanding of local cultures, build lasting connections, and share knowledge and skills with others. It’s a rewarding journey of growth, community, and shared purpose.

I have had interest in farming and agriculture and find this program would be a perfect opportunity. I am driven by experience rather than how much I can earn, so I am happy to work as a volunteer and contribute to the farming business.

Hi I’m Misaki from Japan, 23 years old. I don't speak English frequently but I can have a daily conversation. Also, i would try my best to communicate to get to know each other and exchange our background. It has been my dream to stay abroad. I’d like to make friends who are from different countries and talk about each cultures. When I was university student, I studied fisheries.

I joined this program because I’m excited to experience volunteering in Australia and contribute in a meaningful way while learning new skills. If the opportunity involves working with animals, that would be a dream come true for me! Another reason is that I’m also working towards my visa extension, and I’m hoping that some of the placements can count towards the required days — this allows me to enjoy the experience while also progressing with my visa goals.

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
