Skills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics, Biodynamics practices and techniques
I joined WWOOF as I am really eager to learn skills to set up what I deem as being a hugely rewarding lifestlye - being in harmony with the land! I am really really really keen to move regionally and thought this would be a wonderful way to explore Australia and find a potential new area to call home. I also look forward to connecting with like-minded people who are pathing the way in the lifestyle I hope to create for myself one day.

I have joined WOOF because I love growing organic food and have a good level of skill and experience already. I want to spend some time travelling Australia and learning from other people who manage diverse organic properties. WOOFing is a great way for me to afford to travel and learn and meet new people from around the world.

I joined WWOOF because I’m looking for communities (wherever I’m travelling) to live with and make a beautiful experience. It just really fulfills me to be a part of something where people are all aware of themselves and live in a sustainable way, in harmony with nature. I have experience with gardening but I feel more potential for me to grow in this:) always place to learn!

My first WWOOF experience was a berry farm in NZ five years ago, which was great. I joined WWOOF as a way of travelling and learning about growing food. In 2022 I went WWOOFing on an organic farm in Tasmania and had another very amazing, learning experience.

City/Town: Yapeen
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: Separate Building, Caravan
We live on a 5 acre rural block in Yapeen, Central Victoria. Yapeen is a great mix of quiet countryside within easy access to the historic goldfields and artistic hub of Castlemaine. We are owner builders and in the process of finishing a unique, off grid house. Our block has a diversity of native grasses, some large remnant trees, an abundance of reptiles and birds, resident frogs and visiting kangaroos. We have lots of plans and are in need of extra hands to get things done, but also keen for good company and to learn from and teach others. We need help with maintaining and improving the biodiversity on the block (weeding, native plant propagation, planting and watering revegetation patches and making wildlife habitat such as nesting boxes), house/shed building, animal fencing and gardening - we have an orchard and a large vegetable garden. We use organic methods only and implement permaculture concepts whenever possible. We also have a larger farming block in nearby Guildford with 9 pigs (which need daily maintenance) and where larger scale shed building and market gardens are under construction. Activities you can do in your time off include bush walks, bird watching, visiting waterholes - we are close proximity to a natural swimming hole at Vaughan Springs. We have a spa/plunge pool available in the summer and a pleasant outside area for relaxing. WWOOFers will stay in a caravan or cabin with the use of our house for meals and bathroom facilities. We prefer to cook and eat together and are keen to experience cuisine from other cultures. We have a 4 & 7 year old and would welcome others with small children.

Love to travel and sustainable agriculture, viticulture, work on farms etc. Think you offer a perfect opportunity to get in touch with Australian community culture and combine work with travels, while meeting people from all over the globe. In the Netherlands you were highly recommended by travel journalist Floortje Dessing!

Because I want to know the world that I don't know. I want to meet nice people, get through great experience, and make a wonderful journey! Plus, I want to communicate with someone with English to expand my world. I am not able to speak perfect English, but I try to communicate with you!

Diana and I have wanted to foster a deeper understanding of the processes that go into farming as long as we can remember. We were fortunate to have parents who inspired a love of nature and curiosity for sustainable systems from a young age, which has encouraged Diana's pursuit of global studies and the both of our developments of outdoor interests. Working on a farm is a great way to support ecological systems and farm-to-table production, two things we are incredibly passionate about. We believe in the reciprocity of farming and home life, and wanted to pursue this interest post graduation in hopes of learning and developing as individuals.

I enjoyed the experience so much - I want to continue the journey I started and maybe revisit some hosts if they're still around. I am keen to experience some alternative building and farming along the way.

I joined WWOOF to experience Australia through a more unique lens. I know many people who have tried WWOOFing and have heard nothing but positive, exciting and fulfilling stories. I’m travelling to Australia from Canada and I’m looking to step outside my comfort zone and try working and living in new ways. I hope to gain skills in different fields, learn valuable life lessons and meet many brilliant people. As someone who tries to live life to the fullest, and say yes to opportunities, I believe that WWOOFing will be able to provide me with so much wisdom and experience. I am eager to try new things, challenge my sense of self and grow as a person. WWOOF can help me achieve these goals, work on myself, and provide me with the adventure of a lifetime.

City/Town: Goongerah
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home, Separate Building
Small picturesque farm of 15 acres on rich river flats surrounded by forests & mountains. The Snowy National Park is to the west, the Errinundra NP to the east while the Brodribb wilderness feeds the river in between at Goongerah, a small settlement of about 35 people. This eco-friendly, mixed farm is shared by chooks, geese, milking goats, Clydesdales, wildlife, a dog, guinea pigs and an infamous environmentalist. The fully-netted orchard, booming vegie/flower/herb garden and animals provide most food needs, with food preserving a major part of autumn work. Self-sufficient in fruit, veg, milk, eggs (still working on chocolate). Solar panels power the slab-log home. A wood stove provides heating, hot water and meals. Comfy room for guests. I have written for 'Earth Garden' magazine for about 30 years so visitors can see many of these practical ideas in action. Vegetarian tucker. No smoking inside. Own transport helpful as I'm 70 kms from Orbost and the nearest bus stop. (Mail - Locked Bag 3, Orbost 3888).

We joined WWOOF for the great experience it offers and the opportunity to meet new people. It is also a great way to save money and still have a brilliant time. WWOOF also seems like an amazing way to grow as people and learn more about yourself. We hope to use this to see Australia from a different perspective to our other travels.

I love being outside and working with my hands. I also want to travel in a sustainable manner. I have interests in living sustainably and would be interested in trying to grow my own food for sustenance one day. I just want to learn!

I joined WWOOF to live new experiences and do things I couldn't imagine doing before. I've grown up in a dairy farm and I'd like to discover new types of farms. With WWOOFing I'd meet people I wouldn't meet in other situations and create good memories with them
