Short Property Description
Yandoit Farm is a beautiful 140 acre organic natural farm in Central Victoria and is part of the thriving local communities of Castlemaine, Hepburn & Daylesford. We follow permaculture principles and best practice regenerative farming techniques.
We embrace a natural life connected to the land as a path for fun, health and happiness. Our farm is a positive, supportive place where everyone feels hugged. So come and experience great community, learning, conscious & sustainable farm life and lots of fun.
Organic/Biological methods we use
We are working towards regenerative agroforestry as the key direction for the farm. We are an uncertified (well beyond) organic farm, focused on re-mineralising and regenerating the land through forestry, annual and perennial food systems and small diversified stock management, cattle mostly at the moment.
Working with friends and our local community we follow permaculture principles and best practice regenerative farming techniques.
Our Homestead lifestyle incorporates rocket (wood) fired hot water, cooking and heating, compost toilet, whole organic foods from the farm or trusted local suppliers and a more sustainable lifestyle… with internet.
There’s plenty to do and knowledge to share, permaculture design, eco building, appropriate technology, riparian activities, natural farming, animal management, gardening and landscaping. Each year in Spring & Autumn we host and present in about 6-8 Permaculture Design Courses (PDC’s) plus various other courses on alternative technology, rocket stoves, forest ecology and the like.
Apart from complete immersion into a sustainable homestead lifestyle visitors will also have an opportunity to learn about and gain practical experience in some of the above course subjects plus a wide range of other natural sciences, like regenerative agroforestry, Keyline systems, water management, mycology (mushrooms), setting up natural food systems, sourdough bread and cheese making, preserving, fermentation and a bunch of other stuff.
