Short Property Description
‘Little Farm’ occupies 17 acres on the eastern edge of Trentham in Central Victoria, one and a quarter hours north west of Melbourne. The area is known for its rich, red basalt soil, high rainfall, cold winters, beautiful gardens, tall trees and potatoes. It also grows superb blueberries and a small experimental patch is well established here, yielding a crop saleable at local farmers markets. The property also has extensive ornamental gardens under development and all horticultural pursuits have been conducted chemical free for the past ten years. Extensive mulching, organic fertilizers, worm farming and recycling are all used as restorative practices to improve the soil and plantings over time. There is a swimming pond for cooling off when the weather’s very hot. Trentham has a supermarket, two hotels, great cafes, a neighbourhood centre, library, tennis courts, public pool, primary school and oval. All within an easy walk. I have two boisterous, (but not big) dogs.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
I need the help and I enjoy the company. I’ve been developing the property on my own with help from local gardeners and labourers on and off for the past 10 years. It’s been challenging, but as time goes by things are starting to take shape and some of the major obstacles are looking less daunting. I’ve worked as a wwoofer myself, particularly during 2005 when I spent six months in the UK and France travelling and working on five different properties. I feel like it’s the right time to engage wwoofers on my own property for many reasons, but especially to help move projects forward on my property.
