Short Property Description
In the gorgeous Tucki Valley, the real Byron Bay Hinterland, we practice permaculture and regenerative farm, working hard to restore a degraded farm. We grow our own food, manage cattle and are building koala forests. In our spare time to take off to the magical beaches of Evans Head or Byron Bay. Our farm has been successfully off grid for 15 years which means you learn to turn the lights off and appreciate resource usage. We have a magical view over our swimming pool of the Tucki Valley and we are close to the Tuckean Swamp, one of the worlds most important wetlands which needs serious restoration. A day on our farm might be as mundane as weeding, as hard as fencing or as important as planting koala food trees or making compost, with anything in between. We are both really good cooks and sometimes we work with adjoining farms to do communal project such as riparian restoration so you might get to meet other like minded farmers. Our major shopping area is Lismore and we are 30 minutes to Bangalow and 45 minutes to Byron Bay. Our cows are mainly Brahmans and they had been mistreated before they came to us so we are gently teaching them that humans can be caring. Most people come to us for up to 6 weeks to help with their visa requirements and we are happy to collect people from Ballina or Lismore. We can take a couple or a single person and you have your own room with very comfortable double bed, your own bathroom and TV area.
Organic/Biological methods we use
We use Natural Sequence farming to retain water in the landscape, permaculture for design and patterning and regenerative movement of cattle. We are fully organic.
