Quite simply because I want to try something new. For me, woofing means trying out something new and acquiring new knowledge. I think it's great to learn about farm work and animal care, as these are the cornerstones of our supply chains. I want to help out myself, to know and feel what it's like to help out on a farm in the countryside. But also to get to know the hosts, to live together with them, to work, talk, laugh, eat - simply to go through everyday life together. I hope to further improve my language skills and expand my vocabulary. At the same time, I also hope to learn about nature and farm work and gain practical experience. I've also heard nothing but good things from two friends who have already taken part in WWOOF. And of course, I would also be delighted to be shown around the local area 🙂

I joined WWOOF so that I can meet amazing people (and animals!) and contribute positively to others' lives while also having a fulfilling experience myself. I love animals and spending time in nature and would love to WOOF on a farm/lifestyle property which has horses and other animals around.

I decided to join WWOOF for an opportunity to farm somewhere out of my comfort zone. I absolutely love solo traveling and have been fortunate enough to take on some exciting trips across the country and to Norway from ages 16 to now at 19. Traveling has strengthened my connection to agriculture, as many countries have strikingly different agricultural industries. While working on a small scale organic vegetable and fruit farm, we grew everything we could grow on Long Island, NY. I’d be interested to see the different types of production that happen elsewhere in the world in comparison to the farming that I typically see in New York state. As Australia is so foreign to me and thousands of miles away, I am excited to encounter a whole new world of agriculture and expand my agricultural knowledge. Starting in February, I will be studying for a semester at University of Sydney with a focus on animal science and agricultural classes, so I am excited to explore part of Australia before I settle some of my time in Sydney!

After returning to my home country, I hope to utilize the knowledge and skills I gained in Australia to contribute to a new job. In the future, I want to start a self-sufficient lifestyle in a place surrounded by nature, so I’m eager to learn more about farming!

I came to Australia for an experience. Urban life is an experience, but I pursue one that can only be done in Australia. Life in a busy city is something I can do in my own country. I thought woofs would make my wish come true.

We are both eager to spend time getting our hands in the dirt and grounding ourselves in relationship with mother nature, as well as learning more about day-to-day life in Australia. Cameron is excited to gain experience with the full growing/cultivation practice of food as a cook. Sabrina is set to start school in Traditional Chinese Medicine upon returning to the US and is eager to learn about plant medicine, food as medicine, and general cultivation/land stewardship practices.

I want to experience the Australian lifestyle by meeting new people, working in different environments, and exploring the culture, food, and nature. Living and working in Australia allows me to see how people from different backgrounds live, and I enjoy learning from them. I also want to improve my English skills while adapting to the local way of life. Experiencing new things every day makes my time in Australia exciting and meaningful.

My Farm is a mixed Farm with traditional methods of farming. Coming originally from a Italian Island where for many generations we use organic techniques for farming and growing. I’m trying to apply my knowledge and build slowly a self sustained activity. With: goats, sheep, pigs, many chickens, donkeys, horses, cows and some ducks we produce our own composts mixing it with straw and leaves and vegetables cuts and leftover hay… everything is produced at the farm. We also cut hay every year. 90 acres of peace. Small olive grove, good size vegetable garden., fruit trees scattered around the farm. Our new mission is to walk the Farm towards a small tourist attraction… Having guest visiting and enjoying the surroundings. We for now are members with Hipcamp. They take bookings and send people for us.. Our Farm is directly connected to our Restaurant in Melbourne. Most produce goes to our place in Melbourne to create clean, delicious dishes for our guests.

I have been working in my company for eight years now, but I increasingly notice that I lack fulfillment in my job. In my free time and during my holidays, I am passionate about hiking to observe nature and wildlife. That's why I decided to take some time off from my workplace this year to dedicate myself to an WWOOF-project.

I love the concept because it makes an easy way to travel and help other people with their projects based on an ecologic mindset. Appart from helping people, while joining WWOOF, I will learn more about nature and the culture of the place where I will stay. It is nice to be hosted freely in another country in exchange of my 100% motivated help.

I want to travel in Tasmania and I think the woofing is a good way to explore and meet people who share the kind of life I tend to reach, that's a way to share stories and it's inspiring to see different ways to do and experiences of life. I'd love to do my 88 days for the visa extension, if that can happen through woofing that's the best !

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
