Ahoy WWOOFer's, My family and I live in a small riverside community in the village known as Franklin, in the Huon Valley, Tasmania. Our intention ultimately is to become a self sustaining property as a part of a well connected community. We live on a near 60 acre block, predominately bush with a couple of orchards, multiple dwellings only a short walk to the village cafes post-office and public transport.

Skills I Want to Learn:
I always wanted to work on a farm at least once in my life ever since being a little girl. While planning my gap year I discovered WWOOF and was thrilled to see that there is a possibility to make this dream come true. Plants have always fascinated me and I am interested in learning how to make them grow and harvest them. After all this time in a classroom learning about biology I am also looking forward to spend time outside and do some physical work. The social aspect of working in a team and seeing the result of our common work is also something I would like to experience abroad. I think that volunteering on a farm will be a great experience and that I will grow as a person.

Working on a farm would be a great opportunity for me to learn something new whilst spending lots of time outdoors, which sounds like the perfect combination to me! It would also be a big bonus if I can make some great friends along the way. Sharing stories and connecting with people from completely different cultures and backgrounds is something I cherish a lot.

I joined WWOOF because, as of 8/1/24, I flew one way into Hobart on a whim with absolutely no idea where or what I’d get up to, nor have I been to Tasmania or know anyone here… I’m leaving this experience to fate with some trust in the process… WWOOF would be a great way to meet and help like-minded people. Nonetheless, I look forward to meeting you and lending my assistance!

I decided to become a Wwoofer because I really wanted to travel to Australia to discover new peoples with a different life style. I always wanted to come to Australia for its beautiful scenery but also for the richness of the Australian flora and fauna. I want that dream realized. By the way, sometimes when I finish my work day I spend my free time tending the vegetable garden, tinkering, trimming the bushes. Which is why I think I might be interested in working on a biological farm. I think Wwoof might help me practice and improve my English and this is really important to my career. However, Wwoof will also help me discover the Australian way of life by living with a local family. I think Wwoof might be a great experience for me and I'm also ready to share my French culture.

In my endeavour to learn new skills, meet interesting people and grow in experience, I have decided to attempt to walk as far around the country as I can in a year, working as I go. I am joining WWOOF now, as I am at the NSW border and have very little idea of where to from here. I have already had experience working for accommodation on a couple of farms this month, and have found it to be my favourite form of work. So, my hope is that, by joining WWOOF I will be able to establish contact with like-minded people and gain some direction for my travel and learning.

Previously worked as a wwoofer love organic farming as I am very health conscious, love animals and conservations for land and animals, I would love to see the world become a better place with better farming practices and totally ban the use of chemicals in our food and water systems.I am a minimalist I have my own caravan and am quite self sufficient. I have a trade background in cabinet making, carpentery skills in structure and detailing. I am mechanically minded and can carry out repairs and maintenance on most farm machinery, water irrigation systems. I am a passionate gardener growing fresh clean organic food,I have been a vegetarian for over 35 years love to keep fit with resistance training, cycling, hiking, camping, swimming and other physical activities.

It’s important to take care of the Earth! I love learning new concepts and things with a good work ethic. I like to meet new people. At the moment, I don't speak English well. So it’s a great opportunity for me to improve it and enjoy it without pressure.

Many people around me in France started to talk about buying land, growing food and being off-grid. I would love to experience how that would look and feel like.

To learn natural practices so I can eventually use the skills in a community I would like to reside in. Am also looking forward to going back to basics and hopefully get an understanding of how local barter systems operate so this also will allow me to play a valuable role in community and help us get back to real food as i once was an unhealthy food participant. Excited to also experience a vast variety of cooking methods with real food. I

I have known WWOOF for a while now, and I have been wanting to volunteer in one of many farms around the world. Inspired by a sustainable farm in Yogyakarta, the city where I live back home in Indonesia, where they have this beautiful place with animals and crops, I really want to know more about things such as sustainable living, permaculture, or growing our own food. While I am trying to make the most of my time while I am here in Australia, I would also love to listen to stories from you and the way you are living your life. It would be exciting and meaningful experience to know what it’s like to have a farm life, hoping that one day I will have a farm like yours as well. And also, I want to learn your family recipe! I remember the time when I bought brussel sprout for the first time not knowing how to cook them properly.

To meet like minded people and open ourselves up to more travel around this beautiful country. We are interested in the alternative ways of navigating this life and would like to meet like minded people and have opportunities to travel and stay in the WOOF community while giving back and learning along the way. We hope to one day open up our own property to the WOOF and would love to learn about what others are doing in this space.
