I joined wwoof because everywhere else i’ve wwoofed i have loved my time there. Meeting different people and working outside are some of my favourite things and travelling solo gives me the freedom to make my schedule and take things slow. Savour. Everyone has something new to teach. To uncover the small wonders of how the Earth works. I love bird IDing and have recently become obsessed with Merlin bird ID.

This led me to prepare and apply for this visa in 2024. I am now 25 years old and have come to Australia on a Working Holiday Visa, subclass 462. I have been here for a little over a month. Earlier, I worked picking strawberries for 11 days, but unfortunately, something unpleasant happened. I first learned about this program a long time ago from a Thai TV show called Doo Hai Roo on the ThaiPBS channel. I believe this will be an exciting and enriching experience for me.

I joined Wwoof because I would love to spend another year in Australia, as I have grown to love the people and the lifestyle it affords me. I see great value in volunteer work and want to dedicate my three months to a cause that is both needed and appreciated. Through the Wwoofing program, I hope to gain hands-on experience in sustainable farming and environmental practices in the Australian landscape while exploring new areas of the country that I otherwise might not have had the opportunity to see. I’m excited to meet new people and learn from their diverse perspectives, as well as share my background in conservation biology to contribute in meaningful ways. By immersing myself in this experience, I aim to help contribute to a process I believe in, while also getting the chance to foster sustainable practices that benefit both people and the environment. Lastly, through bush recovery and natural disaster work, I’m excited to be able to lend a hand rather than just observing from the sidelines.

I'm qualified in horticulture, have been growing my own food for 35 years using organic, permaculture, electroculture, GANS, & now applying Masanoba Fukuoka natural farming methods. I love nurturing soils, plants, & an extensive flower garden for bees, birds & butterflies. My home land is 4 acres, with grassland & forest for kangaroos, a good orchard, wicking vegetable beds, bees, a small dog, and large flower gardens.

WOOOF has always been in the back of my mind as something I wanted to do. For years I had my own land to manage. Now that I have sold it, I am hoping to use my time and energy to explore new communities and learn how people are negotiating regenerative agriculture.

An old farmhouse on 11 acres smack bang in the middle of the stunningly beautiful King Island. We have recently purchased the property and there’s not even a garden bed at the moment, it’s a blank canvas. After decades of roaming the world, this will be our forever home.

I grew up listening to my father’s stories about how he traveled with WWOOF, met amazing people and learned so much about farming culture and methods from around the world. When I decided to take a sabbatical and travel to Australia, joining WWOOF seemed like a logical decision.

I think WWOOFING is a great opportunity to meet some local people and make connections. It is also nice to be able to stay a bit longer in the same place, after traveling for a while. You can get to know a particular region better and you can focus on developping new skills. I also like working and making myself useful. I like being productive.

I would like, since I've never done it but often dreamt of it, to live in a farm/orchard/whatever and learn more about animals and nature. I'm used to stay in close contact with both but I'd like to try to live it in this form. I'm also thinking to grow my own food and have some animals when I go back home so I'd love to learn more about this all. I want to contribute to the ecological transition in my way and this could be a start.

There is a 1 acre garden set on the northern end of the 2.5 has. I grow a mix of vegetables, herbs and slowly developing a native garden with the other two happening amongst all this. Lets call it a productive mess because things are done on feel more than a set plan. I am chemical free and use bio-dynamic principles. So there is lots of gardening to do from maintenance to further development. I live in a comfortable house which I am currently painting as time allows. The property is on the south coast of NSW near Narooma, so there is plenty of opportunities to swim, explore the coastline and National Parks. This place is set amongst bushland and on a side road with about 10 other properties of the same size.

My cousin told me about WWOOF and was very enthusiastic! During my first whv, I Wwoofed at a couple different farms all of which were great experiences. The social contact, contributing to something, getting in a bit of rhythm,... Makes a lovely alternative to life on the road or in the city.

I'm not here on holiday for a year just to do nothing. I am a working person who always have to do something. Working in Australia, helping out getting to know the land and its people by locals is perfectly whats suits my expectations as a Work and Holiday Maker. Another reason for me joining WWOOF is having a roof over the head, enjoying a hot shower or something in exchange for work in the meantime because my fiancé and I are currently sleeping in our self-build camper/car. Therefore this will be quite a good experience for the both of us.

I decided to join WWOOF because it seems like a very fulfilling and enriching way to travel. I am very curious to learn more about organic practises and I’ve wanted to try volunteering for longer periods for quite a while so it just seems like the perfect opportunity!

We chose WWOOFing to save some money and to make new experiences. We like to extend our horizon of capabilities. We had a hard time looking for jobs and this sounded like the great opportunity.

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
