What drew me to WWOOFing is the opportunity it presents for new experiences. I'm eager to connect with nature on a deeper level and explore unconventional paths. The idea of working on organic farms and contributing to sustainable living resonates with my passion for making a positive impact on the world. As I continue my gap year Down Under, I'm excited about the prospect of learning from hosts, sharing my own skills, and immersing myself in the beauty of sustainable living. WWOOFing seems like the perfect avenue for me to grow, learn, and contribute to a global community that values the environment. Looking forward to new connections and unforgettable experiences!

I did some wwoofing in New Zealand and loved it so wanted to try out some places in Australia as I travel. I love learning from the hosts about how their farm works and learning all new skills I can. I want to grow my own food when I go back to Ireland so always looking for tips from the experts 🙂

Skills I Want to Learn:
The reason why I try to do WWOOF is that I'd like to have an opportunity to stay with people in different culture and work in a farm. I really like nature and animals. I really like exercises as well. I always do exercising over 1 hour. So I'm confident with my physical strength. I want to learn about agriculture.

We want to alternate roadtrip and wwoofing during these three months because we want to know the culture of the country, meet new people, exchange with the inhabitants.

I am currently on an extended holiday in Australia and rather than just wander I thought it a good idea to learn more about permaculture and growing food in the southern hemisphere. I'd like to meet like minded people and stay productive.

I decided to join WWOOF after having a lovely chat in the kitchen with a friend, who told me about her experience as a WWOOF’er years ago, back when WWOOF was a physical directory book you could buy!
I found the idea of trading energy for necessities, instead of money, very appealing! I thought it was such a wholesome way to gain skills and experiences, and make new connections. I am interested in expanding my knowledge from bush landcare in WA, to all sorts of landcare, which I can apply to whatever unfolds for me in the future.

I joined WWOOF for a couple of reasons: Firstly I wanted to experience a bit more of a routine life again, even if just for a while. I have found on my travels that all this freedom while being fun, can also be a bit exhausting a times. After being in Sydney for a couple of weeks, I wanted to enjoy a bit more of a routine life, and I thought that WWOOF would be a great answer to this need of routine and security. Another reason why I joined WWOOF is because this life in the city can be overwhelming after a while. I found myself craving for nature and a bit more peace and quiet, and I think WWOOF is also the perfect answer for this! The last reason why I joined WWOOF is to have bigger connection with the wonderful people of Australia. As a backpacker you rarely meet any Australian people ( in my experience ). In my travels I have mostly just encountered other backpackers from Europe. I would like to meet Australian people and really experience their culture, and I think WWOOF is a great opportunity to meet Australian people and experience Australian culture!!

I have joined WWOOF to further my passion for organic alternate agriculture and to help and share my knowledge with like minded people. I’m easy going and quite hard working, my background is in Irrigation, pumping and mechanics. I’m pretty handy in a work shop or in field installing and maintaining farm equipment. I also have a keen interest in learning crop nutrition and how to create on farm alternatives like ferments, composts and liquid teas.

I am deeply passionate about learning and implementing principles like permaculture and regenerative agriculture for some reasons. I believe in the importance of sustainable farming practices that prioritize the health of the environment. By adopting permaculture techniques, which emphasize working with natural ecosystems and cycles, I can minimize the negative impact of farming on the land and surrounding ecosystems. This not only helps to preserve biodiversity but also ensures the long-term viability of the farm.

Our property has 88 ha with plenty of wildlife all year long. A short 2 hours drive from Sydney and you are surrounded by the World Heritage-listed Wollemi National Park. In regards to the Flood Recovery Project, we are able to validate 2nd or 3rd Working Holiday Visas. On our property, you will find a 2000 sqm garden, which we are planning to extend in the future. We are also participating in a few different projects, which protect the native wildlife of Australia. For example: we have planted more than 200 native trees on our property. Our next project will be to install water stations, which are created specifically for the Wildlife of Australia.

I joined wwoofing, as for me it is much more important to support people, which care about conscious ecological farming and sustainability practices, than simply financial oriented people. Also, in my eyes, it is much more valuable to work in a community where you get shelter and board, as simply for money. Finally, I also would like to immerse in the local Australian culture, learn about the ways of organic food growing and have great conversations during joint meals.

At the moment, I'm trying to find a job to fulfill my 88 days of specific work to apply for my second working holiday visa. My visa will expire on the 19th of April, so I'm quite in a hurry and more than keen to start immediately. In case it would be needed, I have my car, but since I'm based in the Gold Coast at the moment, I will need the necessary time to drive to the location before starting.

The big aim of joining WWOOF is to feel a big nature and culture of each region. At the same time, I am looking for farm job to get second visa, so I am very positive to volunteer your farm or gardening helping. And also, I love learning new things and exchanging knowledge and culture with new people, so I am excited to achieve those goals.

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
