As nomads who typically seek solitude in nature, we are dreading the thought of renting a house in a suburban area and joining the hum-drum, rat-race world. Instead, we want to live differently, live in more harmony with nature and thus have decided to reach out to the WWOOFer network for such opportunities. We feel that the people here who host and volunteer are "our type of people" and thus we will connect well. We are not "typical" WWOOFer's (if there even is such a thing!) but we think we share the qualities of such. We are looking for a living situation beyond a few days and weeks (more like months), where we can lend a hand, be part of growing food and living sustainably, offer our skills and talents to people who value them and live harmoniously with nature. We perhaps cannot offer our toil day in and day out like many WWOOF'ers, but don’t come seeking handouts or freebies either. We want to establish a genuine, open and honest relationship with a host who is open to dialogue around an agreement that works for everyone.

I've always been interested in living off the land and one day would like to have a go a semi self sufficiency myself. I'm not sure if Darwin is the place to do this because of the poor soils, very dry Drys and the sometimes torrential Wets. I did two WWOOFing placements in the US and enjoyed it very much.

I'd really like to take this opportunity to learn new skills and revisit good habits that I've lost touch with over the years and hoping to meet like minded people!

This is my first time to join WWOOF. I knew this from my friends. I’d like to work in the nature more, stay away from the city. I’d like to learn how self-sufficient life works. I studied geography before, I have some knowledge about that , but I haven’t made it practical.

Skills I Want to Learn:
Our main reason for joining WWOOF Australia is to learn about organic farming and gardening principles so we can incorporate them into our everyday lives. Our goal is to grow as much of our own food as possible in a safe and sustainable way, and so we see WWOOFING as an opportunity to get some invaluable hands-on experience. At the same time, we would like to meet like-minded people, contribute to Australian farming operations, and see places in Australia that we might not ordinarily visit.

Like to live and learn to be sustainable in holistic ways. To learn new skills and utilise my own skill and knowledge. I am also looking for sustainable ways for me to live and survive amongst the monetary dominant economy. Would like to travel and gain work experience as well as knowledge of Country. I am interested and sometimes inspired by permaculture and believe it is a key to a positive future that values people not just as a number or someone to use.

By Wwoofing I hope to meet people and learn a little about the life in the beautiful vast Australia! I don't want to be a tourist only and would love to make myself useful! Besides I love nature and would love to volunteer on a farm, animal shelter, workshop or any other. And especially after the horrific bush fires maybe some people could use some extra hands. I enjoy working with my hands and as an engineer I have a very practical approach.

My experience working in restaurants that utilize local, organic food systems has shaped my own lifestyle and consumption to reflect that same mission. I think it's important to understand where food comes from and I get extremely excited when I'm able to either grow my own produce or buy it from a local farm at the Co-Op. I want to experience this side of things and build on my general knowledge of horticulture to become a more well-rounded chef and consumer.

I joined Wwoof to find organic farms and permaculture projects that I can volunteer for to share my experience, skills and labour while meeting new people, travelling to new places and learning new skills. I'm particularly interested in learning more about animal management (particularly goats!), regenerative farming, soil conservation and sustainable market gardening practices.

Ironically to assist friends set up a WWOOFer experience on their property. I travelled through Europe under a similar experience.

I want the opportunity to connect with other like minded people whilst also developing practical skills and living simply. I currently volunteer at my local food hub which is focused on paying farmers fairly whilst also keeping margins small for the wider community to gain access to local, sustainably grown food. I value the work, ethics and ecological care that goes into biodynamic and organic produce and the urgent need for this to continue and grow.

We joined WWOOF to get an opportunity to discover Australia in a different way. We think that meeting people at their home and be part of their life for a while could be a wonderful experience. We enjoy working outdoors and with animals so it made sense that WWOOFing was made for us !

I joined WWOOF because I want to volunteer my time on organic farms so I can be more 'hands on' again. My current job is mostly at a desk and I miss feeling connected to the land and getting my hands dirty.

I'm looking to help out on some organic farms to see how its done, and see if its something I would like to do one day for a living. I have heard about a decentralised food system and how it can be better for the environment, and I’d like to learn more about how an organic farm operates by helping out and gaining hands on experience.

One of the most valuable things when you’re traveling is local knowledge. I joined WWOOF as a way to find my way into local communities throughout my travels, as well as gain new skills and understanding on sustainability, and where food comes from. I am excited to learn the ways of sustainable farming and homesteading, all while making valuable  connections along the way.

I joined WWOOF to volunteer at farm stays and experience the life in countryside Australia. I would also like to volunteer at eco-farm stays and learn more about sustainable living and sustainable farming. Super excited about my first volunteering stay!!

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
