Looking to get back in touch with Organic movement and Permaculture network folks in Australia/Tasmania. Hoping to start or to join an organic/permie farm here or possibly, if I return, in Asia e.g. an Akihatake in Japan.

Marty and Fiona WWOOFed in Hawaii on an organic farm pre-kids as part of a 6 month U.S. road trip in 2011 and found working the land meaningful as part of travelling and formed wonderful relationships with landholders, country and the environment we were visiting. Now 14 years later we are hitting the road again in 2025, this time with our kids, to show them the vast country of Australia. We are keen to WWOOF as a family to make a positive contribution to the places we travel to and to meet new people, see new environments, grow food and habitats and just learn from life together.

We live on a beautiful 120 acre cattle property in the Northern Rivers. The property backs on to National Park in a very serene & quiet area with many opportunities for nature walks. We have undulating pastures as well as many treed gullies. The property has stunning views down the valley & of the Border Ranges. A great location to see the spectacular sunsets in Winter & watch the summer storms come through.

We also have a beautiful historically rich spacious home which we are happy to share with volunteer WWOOFers...we also welcome volunteers to gain an understanding of Aboriginal culture and the Australian culture which makes this beautiful country unique...our farm has some challenges but we have a vision which we believe every volunteer will be able to leave an eco footprint...we hope to foster great relationships shared knowledge and some wisdom in our exchange...MAD Rams Potage Gardens will be one if the first market gardens in our area which is exciting and challenging yet definitely rewarding. We have amazing birdlife and animals we are surrounded by one if the most intact temperate forests in the world and a beautiful bay. We are also located in the gorgeous night skies of the aroura Australia lights....We chose this beautiful place because if it's dependable rainfall community and opportunity to give back to the land and eco system in keeping with Aboriginal custodial tradition. I am still relatively new to Australia and it has dawned on me that I have not been able to spend my time here properly exploring the wonderful natural landscape that Australia has to offer and immersing myself in the Australia way of living due to my studying obligations. Hence I have decided to spend the year exploring different areas of Australia while meeting new people, acquiring new skills, learning more about local culture, exposing myself to new experiences and reconnecting with nature. There is no better way to do all these things while being able to give back to local communities.

My wife and I recently received our 189 permanent residence visas. She will be starting work in Grafton NSW in the next few months once her professional registration is completed long term we are planning to have our own farm and thought it would be good to meet other farmers in the area and to learn from them what the differences are in the farming between south Africa and Australia.

After I stopped working as a teacher, I spent 1 year travelling around my country and being a volunteer in some natural/ permaculture farms. I got myself healed and connected to the people and things in those environments. Then I got a chance to have a working holiday visa and I set out for a farther journey here. I have been in Australia for nearly 1 year. For this 1 year I have worked as a picker/ packer at farms in NSW and QLD in order to make enough money for my journey. It was such an experience and I have learnt a lot about life lessons by living and working with so many other backpackers. I really appreciate that. However, business farms and massive food production are never a suitable environment for me. I always seek for a natural and self sufficient lifestyle and want to learn more about how to build it on my own. That's why I registered for being a wwoofer. I don't mind hard work and will do my best to help out at your farm. It would be good if the place is well organised, quiet and harmonious because those are the values I cherish as well. Currently I am in Townsville, Queensland. I have a plan travelling up north from here. I am looking for a permacultural farm in north Queensland to be a wwoofer. Thank you for considering and having me as your wwoofer.

Since the lifestyle in Australia is so different from the Netherlands I would love to get different experiences through Australia. Meet new people, work on a farm since I grew up in a city and really get the Aussie lifestyle.

I joined WWOOF because it sounded like a good idea. I love working outside in nature and am keen to learn more about organic and sustainable gardening practices as I’d love to be self sustainable some day. It also sounds like a good way to meet people and get more involved in the community.

I joined WWOOF to discover what it is to work in a farm and learn about people's living experience in Australia which is something complicated to do in hostels. I currently do not have a lot of experience in farms but that's why I would like to learn and help, in any type of farm, because it would also help me knowing more things. For now my past jobs consist in McDonald's (3 years), cleaning houses around Melbourne and doing UberEat around Sydney.

Accommodation Type: Caravan
We can sign off your second year visa 88 days for bushfire recovery. Prefer long stays. Location is arguably the most beautiful place in Victoria, with Rolling hills, lake, rivers and creeks. Suited to more adventurous people that are open minded, and those that want to live a bit wild and free. Abundance of good food, lots of animal noises (esp barking dogs and crowing roosters) and can be chaotic at times with clutter, kids, animals and some hectic days. Can also be spiders around, and house is messier than average. Probably not suited to people that have had a very glamorous privileged sheltered life and lack adventure. You will become part of our family. We sometimes butcher our own meat (but not often), so not for the faint hearted. We manufacture wooden poultry incubators, as well as breeding and showing cattle, poultry and large dogs. Run a herd of miniature belted Galloway cattle on 2 properties (Georges creek, Tallangatta) in a very scenic pristine beautiful quiet location in North East victoria. Close to Tallangatta township with supermarket & other facilities. Our main property consists of 150 acres overlooking Lake Hume, made up of grazing land & bushland. Livestock incl a traditional Belted Galloway cattle stud, Wiltshire Horn sheep, rare poultry breeds. We are very relaxed & easy-going, meals will be with the family of 5 (4 children, aged 10-21) so you will be part of our family. You will experience many things such as cutting firewood, fencing, animal husbandry, growing vegetables & fruit, showing cattle, etc. Accommodation is in a cozy caravan beside our home with double bed, fridge, fan, sink, table etc, and mobile phone reception (for Telstra & Aldi mobile plans). Toilet, shower, kitchen, coffee machine and Unlimited wireless internet data at house. We can pick you up and drop off from Wodonga train station or Albury train/bus station or Albury airport. Recreation activities in the area include fishing, kayaking lake and rivers, bush walking, hiking and bike riding on rail trail, horse riding and whip cracking. We would welcome some help with looking after animals, general farm chores, building projects. Meat-based mixed diet but can cater for other diets as food is abundant in our household, Main meals will be with family of 5, so basically you will become a member of our family. Can send more information and photos of caravan on request.

My favorite memories are from working outside in Australia when younger. I want to visit Australia again and really enjoyed the outback and physical work. I enjoy my current job role, but after Covid much of the work is done on-line. I miss doing physical work. I have meet lots of people doing Wwoofing when I have been traveling. It sounds like a very nice way to experience a country whilst traveling. I fell in love with the Australian outback and I have been waiting over ten years to come back to visit. I believe Wwoofing will give me the opportunity to experience the things a remember most fondly about Australia.

As we are both are huge lovers of nature and animals. We grew up that way. We want to learn more about it from diffrent people and their vision. Both we like to do physical work so this seems perfect to combine that with obtaining knew knowledge. Also we like to help out where we can to make even the smallest diffrence. Also it is a nice way to meet new people in a very unique way. In this way we also can learn to shape our own future with the knowledge en wisdom we could learn from the wwoofing.

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
