Beautiful 300 acre farm which we run wool sheep, alpaca, house cows, horses, chickens and bees. Although we've been farming all our lives, we've only been on this farm for a few years so we are still setting up. In addition to looking after the farm and animals we are growing vegetables and setting up an orchard to be self sufficient. We love our farming lifestyle and are always looking to enjoy and improve our farm. We are very interested in regenerative agriculture, low footprint systems, revegetation, water health, low to no chemicals, soil health and low stress stock handling. We love having people to stay that are interested in joining in and being a part of whats happening on the farm. We do have some huts for you to stay in or you're welcome to bring your own caravan, tent etc.

Zaytuna Farm Eco Hamlet is one of Australia's leading Permaculture demonstration sites for over 20 years. Originally founded by Geoff Lawton, over the last few years it has developed into a community Eco Hamlet shared by 8 other families with the same vision of continuing it's legacy as the Permaculture Research Institute Australia. Our farm is 66 acres in total, with 1 side boarded by the beautiful Terania Creek, and we are fully off-grid. Shareholders have been busy developing their own sites of 2.5 acres each into flourishing homesteads for their families, along side building a new community of likeminded members that share the farm's resources and vision. Wwoofers would be assisting on one of the shareholder's land, helping a family build their homestead whilst contributing to the greater community. Jobs include the regular animal routine for our 2 dairy cows, 30 chickens, moving the chicken tractor every few weeks, gardening, propagating, taking care of seedlings and plants in the nursery, establishing food forests, making compost, and whatever other exciting projects we are doing which could include work on the natural swim pond, building, it all depends what time of year it is!

I love exploring new places and see different things, that’s why I don’t want to stay too long in one place. I think WWOOFing is a great option for me because I still have time to live a little. Nevertheless i take my tasks very seriously and will do my best to help you in the best way possible.

I have a 5 acre property in the Sunshine Coast hinterland with a large vegetable garden, two orchard areas, various fruit and nut trees including bananas, mangoes, citrus trees ( orange, limes, lemons, mandarins), macadamias, mulberries, pecans, pomegranate, jaboticaba, rainforest tucker trees like Davidson's plum and sandpaper figs. A creek with endangered rainforest habitat, which my family have helped regenerate and revegetate with the help of landcare groups, runs along the length of the property for approximately 200 metres, and there lovely swimming areas, as well as a reasonable section of around 300m to kayak. The riparian zone requires maintenance from invasive weeds. There are two dwellings on the property: the main house with a large decking adjacent to rainforest, which is a great place to observe birdlife, and there is also a cabin which has accomodation separate from the main house, with a toilet and bathroom and large living area. I keep sheep and poultry, both of which provide produce ( meat and eggs) plus help with producing compost and fertiliser for the garden, and keeping the grass down. I have a single flowhive beehive which I collect honey from periodically. I have a dog, Dodger, who does what dogs do! He is very friendly and well behaved. The property shares a Land for Wildlife status with a neighbouring property, and we have recently had 300 koala habitat trees planted, most of which are thriving. Currently my 21 year old daughter and 19 year old son (as at November 2024), my two youngest children of 7, are living here as well, however there will be absences due to attending University in Brisbane or travel.

I want to learn more about sustainable farming practises and land use. I love travelling and seeing new places and meeting new people but I am not good at being "on holiday", if you know what I mean. Staying and working on an unusual, innovative farm with open, welcoming people sounds like a wonderful time to me.

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
