Skills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics, Biodynamics practices and techniques, Regenerative Agriculture, Syntropic farming
I am a soon to be graduate from Auburn University with a degree in micro, cell, and molecular biology. I have always wanted to WWOOF and I plan on taking this time after graduation to do so. I want to learn more about other's cultures, ways of farming, as well as to see other places and brush up on my foreign language. My mission: Growing up in rural Alabama, I learned the importance of small scale farmers and was inspired to obtain my BS in microbial, cell, and molecular biology. I believe microbial interactions are a central tenet in so many biological relationships. One thing that specifically interests me are truffles and learning how truffles are farmed. I plan to go to graduate school to study truffles with the goal of increasing the range and efficacy of truffle-culture in the US. I would like to see them implemented in dual cropping systems like orchards (pecan and oak) and as feed-crop for free range foraging livestock (cattle, swine, deer). I was inspired to bring truffle-culture to the US after a vacation in Italy with my family. We visited a local family owned vineyard and they were so sweet and showed us around their vineyard and took us truffle hunting. At the end of the day they fed us the best dinner and were excellent hosts. I believe WWOOF will pair me with similar hosts and give me a practical and valuable view of their livelihoods. All in all, I want to give back to the communities that raised me and formed my core experiences. I want to be a servant to others, using my gifts and sharing my talents while learning about others and experiencing the world around me. My mission is to love what I do and do what I love with the honest aim of making the world a better place.

The reason why I joined WWOOF is that I want to have the opportunities to live with local because currently, I live in a city in Japan which is close to Tokyo and I feel like I want to get out of here. I want to talk to local people about cultural differences. In addition, I'd like to improve my English through experiences I'll learn from WWOOF.

Im a Swiss guy who likes helping out while travelling. I like to live with people and work with them, rather than just travelling on my own. I like to be helpful, and I like to learn new skills. I find it interesting to learn from other peoples lives.

Ever since year one of coming to Australia, I've wanted to WWOOF, but a traveling tour guide job sent me from Brisbane to Perth where I immersed myself in the working life of a tour guide. I would like to add to my life experiences here in Australia now that I have the availability and with a supportive husband who will hold down the fort, I can tick it off my list!

I love the nature especially animals. I want to gain experience and learn new things. I want to see if farming is the career I want to do in the long run and gain the necessary skills. I want to get fit and keep my mind occupied.

Because I would love to work with others for the benefit of the Earth. My children are all adults now and I would love the opportunity to learn more about things like natural and/or any building techniques. I would also like to learn more about growing/cultivation of crops in different climates. And to be around like minded people who work with the earth in a sustainable and practical manner.

Health, the environment, nature, cities and food systems are so closely linked and yet sometimes it feels as if it's so disconnected. I want to know where my food comes from and see some best practice in terms of land stewardship. I've spent the last 2 years working in hospitals and I wanted to breathe freely again.

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
