I joined WWOOF because I want to complete my 88 days of remote work as quickly as possible, a good friend of mine recommended WWOOF to me and I heard many positive things about it so here I am! My goal here is to find a good place to work and meet people with whom I can share new and fun experiences. It's important for me to find a serious place where people put focus on the work being done correctly and taking care of each other.

I have always had a passion for seeing things grow whether that be plants, animals or humans and when it comes to wwoofing, I love the idea of growing your own food. For my future, I can see the possibilities of having a homestead of my own. I bought a few acres of land a couple years ago and would like to eventually convert it into something that produces food and live off the land. My partner grew up on a potato farm and I have been learning lots from her and her family and we both can envision potentially being a host farm one day. One of my goals is just to learn the day to day of a farmer here and all the trials and tribulations that go along with that. I love the idea of having cultures from all over the world come together with similar mindsets. I find it very interesting seeing where the food comes from that we buy in the supermarket. I love the idea of being self sufficient and not relying on big box stores for our food. But I am also a firm believer in collaboration with others and people coming together to share their experiences and to achieve a common goal. We can learn a lot from each other and I am excited to do just that.

Joining WWOOF will allow me to meet new people and have the opportunity to learn more about agriculture and how to maintain a sufficient ecosystem. Hopefully, I will learn about the daily lives of Australian workers and the importance of preserving the land.

We joined to be able to experience the life of organic farmers across this country. We reckon it would be a nicer way to see Australia by going from property to property and helping out and learning along the way, on how everyone does their different types of farming, rather than towing a caravan from town to town, and saying you have travelled Australia.

We want to leave the hostels and get to know the people and culture of Australia, experience for ourselves what it is like to live and work on a farm. However, we are not doing this for the money, but to contribute charitably and for the experience.

I wanted to find an avenue where I can truly be one with nature and experience the full farm life experience, from farming to animal care. I also wish to help around by volunteering with the farms available to learn new skills and gain new insights!

The whole reason we wanted to travel was to experience something new and authentic, and we are positive we will get what we are looking for through living the everyday life of a farmer. To volunteer is essential since getting rid of the employee/employer dynamic makes room to have a more meaningful and, as previously mentioned, authentic relationship. We would love to make new connections with the kind people of Australia and what better way is there then to put on the shoes of another person to do that!

I'm interested to see how different people live sustainably. I grew up in the middle of the US in a pretty much monocrop state, but when thinking about how I would like to live in the future, I would like to have a diverse garden at least. It would be really lovely to see how others incorporate greenery into their lives. I also want to see corners of Australia that I wouldn't otherwise see!
