I want to join WWOOF because it offers experiences that regular travel cannot. By living and working with local people, I can truly understand their culture and daily life. Unlike regular tourism, WWOOF allows me to connect deeply with hosts and learn naturally through daily activities. I’m also interested in sustainable farming and organic lifestyles. Living in the city, I rarely think about where my food comes from or how it’s produced. Through WWOOF, I can experience farming firsthand and learn about the effort it takes to grow food. I also want to understand ecological living and bring new ideas into my own life. WWOOF is also a way for me to grow as a person. Being in a new environment is challenging, but overcoming difficulties and working with hosts and other participants will improve my adaptability and communication skills. Meeting people from different backgrounds will give me fresh perspectives. For these reasons, I believe WWOOF will be a valuable and meaningful experience for me. I want this journey to help me grow, learn new things, and connect with nature.

I thought that taking care of animals would give me experience as a veterinary nurse in the future. Also, my mother grows vegetables, so I thought it would be nice to help her.

Through WWOOF I want to broaden our horizon. I think WWOOF is a great opportunity for backpackers to get to know about different ways of living, get in contact with locals (so with you!) and see how they live here in Australia. I am curious to discover and learn about a new perspective and am excited to meet new people! WWOOF gives me the ability to support people on their farms. I would love to help you in your daily life and excited to also learn and grow during my stay.

We would love to explore some more places around Australia, meet new people and learn sustainable living skills to put into place in our own lives. We don't have much space at our home but one day dream of owning a property so would really enjoy staying with and learning from people.

My dream in Australia would be to be able to work there as an osteopath and get experience in this field while exploring the beauties of Melbourne. Unfortunately, I do not know when this will happen as there are a lot of paper work to deal with first. Therefore, I thought it would be a wonderful experience to immerse myself in the Australian's way by joining WWOOF and make the most out of it for the time being. What I wish to achieve on this platform is to learns new skills, be in the nature or connect with people or animals. I have many years of manual work behind me whether in construction sites, in the farming world or even shaping surfboard. I would love to get involve in work that either allows me to be outside, have social connection or enable me to build things and get creative.

To explore the world, to see where that will take me. I’ve always been interested in organics and recycling growing up in California. It was really big in the 90s. I’ve heard so much about this organisation over the years and I want to give it a go myself

I heard about the opportunity to WWOOF from friends and became a member for several reasons. Firstly, I find it interesting to learn more about agriculture and farm life in Australia while supporting it in a sustainable way and gaining new skills myself. Additionally, I believe it is a great way to experience Australian culture from a different perspective while also having a place to stay. That’s why I would be very happy to find a spot on a farm. 🙂

City/Town:
Farming Methods: Permaculture
Accommodation Type: Tent
We live in Narara Ecovillage which is an hour North of Sydney. The village of 150 people (currently, and growing) is developing organic vegetable and egg production applying permaculture principles. The property is 150 acres including buildings, a bushlot, a flood plain, a dam for swimming and community gardens. We have retrofitted an old house as our residence and are creating permaculture gardens on our Lot. You can view a TV show about our renovation on Restoration Australia on this link. https://iview.abc.net.au/video/DO1911H006S00 Accommodation is in a tent in our campsite where other Wwoofers and visitors stay. We provide all camping equipment and bedding. Breakfast is at the campsite, other meals are provided with us in our home. Part of the job includes garden bed preparation, so we need a volunteer who has a strong back and can help with the heavy work such as digging, turning compost and moving soil. We prefer a stay of minimum 4 weeks, so that we are not retraining every couple of weeks. WHAT TO BRING Some wwoofers have asked what they should bring, so here is a list. You will need closed shoes or boots. Shower shoes. Rain coat, long sleeved cotton shirts, sturdy workpants, warm jumper, jacket, beanie, scarf. Swim suit, sun hat. Headlamp. Water bottle. Itch cream for bites, natural mozzie repellant. Tough gardening gloves. Snacks if you want something particular to have between meals.

Because it is a great way to get to know conscious people and to learn about sustainability and work outdoors. I did WWOOFING before in New Zealand and in the Netherlands. I think it is important to have a videocall to get to know eachoter and see if it clicks.

I joined WWOOF because I have always wanted to travel to Australia and this seems like a perfect way to do so. A few of my friends have used WWOOF before and had great experiences. I am eager to have an adventure, travel, meet new people, and learn new skills.

I would like to earn new experiences, see how other cultures live and try something different in a country which is foreign for me. I've always wanted to try out the principle of wwoof in Australia. I would like to improve my English skills, and where can you do that better than with locals? 😉

During my stay in Australia, I hope to see the amazing countryside of Australia. But I also want to learn more about myself and life in general. For that journey, I am open and thankful to meet people with different nationalities and ways of living.

I am looking to learn more about organic agricultural practices and animal care. I am English and from the UK but have lived in Italy for many of my adult years. I live in Bolzano in the North of Italy, and since 2010 created and ran an intercultural community garden. The garden has been a great success and a group from over 15 different countries continues to grow fruit and vegetables from all over the world. I am visiting Australia for a month in February/March 2025 and would like to spend some days working as a volunteer WWoofer close to Sydney. I would love to work on a farm that has vegetables and animals, especially sheep or goats. I'm not so young anymore (59 years) but would say I'm pretty fit and more than happy to do farm work!

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
