Skills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics, Biodynamics practices and techniques
I joined WWOOF because I wanted to experience Australian culture by living with local families and being part of their daily lives. I also wanted to improve my English through real conversations and daily communication. Since I love working outdoors and enjoy being surrounded by nature, WWOOF felt like the perfect opportunity. Meeting new people and learning from different ways of life is something I truly value.

I grew up on a farm where we raised cattle, horses, and chickens, as well as growing our own veggies. I'm keen to get back to spending time farming and working outdoors, as well as having a way to give back to the places I'm visiting. Also, I've lived communally in the States for about 5 years, so I'm especially interested in spending time in a co-op, commune, or intentional community! I've never WWOOFed before this year but I've really enjoyed using Couchsurfing and other methods of travel that allowed me to meet new people.

Because I work in an organic farm and I really want to learn more about then I get more experiences in other countries. I really want to have more contacts with another farms and learns more about how to do it. I know that it's not easy to run a farm, and that's why I am searching to learn more with other persons who do this for life.

I grew up on a small island in Japan, where living close to nature was a part of everyday life. That background sparked my deep respect and curiosity for the natural world. Through WWOOF, I hope to deepen that connection by experiencing sustainable living and organic farming firsthand, while also learning from local communities and discovering new perspectives and lifestyles.

I am a health professional by background and my husband, and I have a small farm in the Somerset Region. We have a small self-contained house for use.  The farm is mostly garden as we host events from time to time.  It was established as a garden in 1897.  We also renovate and restore old cars and are making a campervan from an old truck. we live near the amazing Brisbane Valley Rail trail and have friends to work to protect the environment.

We are interested in learning more about agriculture, sustainability, and plants, animals, and culture in Australia. We had a great experience wwoofing in Hawaii in February and joined Wwoof Australia to learn about organic farming while contributing to the local community and developing new skills!

I have experience working during lambing season on a sheep farm for several years and I absolutely loved it. I would like to try some farm work in Australia and learn some new skills whilst being a part of a community.

Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type:
300 acre farm on the foothills of the Snowy Mountains, using regenerative farming principles to restore the land. We are just starting out, running 40-50 head of cattle, and are planning to get pigs, chickens, ducks and geese. We also endeavour to run a sizeable compost system using food scraps from nearby restaurants, and to establish a worm farm for fertilizer. We don't use any chemical sprays - we dig out all the weeds and take them to the green waste at the nearby dump. We are combatting erosion by building leaky weirs and planning to dig swales to capture water, and planning rotational grazing to help build soil, grow grass, and manage weeds. We don't vaccinate our cows, nor do we give them any grain or antibiotics.

To be able to learn new abilities (in all kinds of fields), to challenge myself and to learn from other people (their opinions). A travel friend was very enthusiastic about WWOOF, she loved being on a farm and she got me curious and excited too.

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
