Skills I Want to Learn: Organic Practices, Permaculture/Biodynamics, Biodynamics practices and techniques
There are various reasons why I have chosen WWOOF. I would like to gain knowledge in areas such as permaculture, animal care, sustainability and self-sufficiency. Acquiring knowledge and building them into skills that I could use throughout my life and share with others would be extremely meaningful to me. I believe spending time working in those areas with those willing to share will bring me much happiness and a great sense of purpose and belonging. Last but not least, being taught by passionate people sharing their way of life and building relationships with them will positively impact me.

It all started from my grandma. She had her own little vegitable garden. She always gave fresh and beautiful vege and that is one of reason I'm grew up. She also has many relative and friends in country side. In each season they send fresh fruit, rice or vegetable to her and grandma always share with my family. Almost food were made in their own garden or made by local farmer. Their are taste really delicious. I did'nt even imagine how they made. After many years later while I had been studying in cooking school. I've been interesting about how food was producted. I read article and watched documentary about farmer's production circumstance. I knew huge amount of foods have been waste or can't shipping because issue of size, colors or market price. Until that time I had never wondered how hard to take care of food and how much farmers earn their income. One day I found convenience store which sells fresh veg. The manager said he produced the place and oppurtunity for local farmers to provide their produce. So they and customer can know each other and thoughts. I really admire to their attempt and how high quality. I had experience of rice planting just once but other farm work is none even picking. I wish I could learn how farmers passionate of products food and hardest thing.

City/Town: Nymboida
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: In Our Home
Located in Nymboida we are on a stunning 250acres and a short drive to spectacular must see destinations. We have very friendly horses, chickens, dogs & wildlife. 2 fascinating caves are only approx. 1.2km from the cottage. Sweeping views of the valley spread out below the hillside. The breathtaking wild river at Nymboida junction is popular for rafting & camping only 20 minutes away. However, there is very easy access to the river where you turn off Armidale Road to Layton's Range Road. You wake up literally with your head in the clouds. Yapunyah Park is truly a magical place.

I am going to learn about essential oils from September this year. Essential oils are a gift from nature, and I thought that I should learn about nature, the root of essential oils. I want to learn about the coexistence of nature and humans, and how to live a sustainable life.

I joined WWOOF because I’m passionate about sustainability and activism and seeking international educational experiences. For the new few months, I will be WWOOFing with my high school friend Rachel. After being friends for more than half a decade and both graduating college within the past year, we're eager to travel, explore, and meet new people. We’ve been looking forward to visiting Australia, due to the vibrant art scene as well as accessible nature and wildlife. We’re excited about the opportunity to connect on a local level to the places that we visit, as we see this travel period as time for meaningful education rooted in hands-on participation. The purpose of WWOOF well-matches our goals as it provides us with a platform to find like-minded people across the globe who we can visit and learn from. We hope to leave our WWOOF stays with a better understanding of ourselves, an appreciation for the place we explored, and a broadened worldview.

We have a beautiful property in the Noosa Hinterland where we have 200 olive trees, a food forest and kitchen garden. We have the most amazing view across the hinterland and a wonderful community. It's a very agricultural area with many surrounding farms. It's just hubby and I as our kids are in their early 20's but they often stay and also help out. 35 minutes to the beach

Before I start working as a dietitan I want to travel and make new experiences in Australia and I would love to work on organic farms and learn more about planting and harvesting vegetables and fruits. I also want to get to know the culture. Food is a very important part in my job and I want to expand my knowledge about where the food is coming from and how to grow it on my own. My grandmother had a farm and I always enjoyed helping her with harvesting vegetables. I think WWOOF offers a good possibility to get to know farm work better and meet nice locals there. Lena: I joined WWOOF because I love the idea of getting to know and to support the local people and their everyday life on farms while living there. WWOOF offers a great opportunity to broaden one’s horizon and to make new experiences as well as learning new skills. I want to take the chance to get to know myself better and to deepen my knowledge about sustainable food and living, and working with animals.

We would like to do WWOOFing because it would allow us to travel but also to bring our help in exchange of an accommodation, which would take away the worries of the rent. Moreover, we are both very sociable, and like to meet people despite the language barrier that we are ready to improve in order to better dialogue. For us, WWOOFing is first and foremost a commitment to an organic farm, which is in line with our ideals regarding the preservation of the environment and biodiversity, but it is also a way to create memories by living a memorable and enriching experience. We are well aware that such an opportunity will not be available to us later, so we want to take advantage of our youth and the fact that we are not yet "set". And finally, it is important for young people like us to gain their independence, and what better way than to leave for the unknown, without the help of our parents, in order to be alone with ourselves. It is a real challenge for us to leave our comfort zone, but this is what builds a person and this is exactly what we are looking for. We would be delighted to be a part of it, and thank you in advance for your consideration.

I'm taking a year off school to avoid feeling too burnt-out. I always wanted to travel and figured this would be the perfect opportunity to do so. I have some friends who have wwoofed before, and told me it's a perfect way to see a part of the world on a budget.
