Our property includes a farm, temple, and guesthouse, rural property surrounded by scenic rainforest. The farm includes a variety of crops, such as fruits, vegetables, and herbs, as well as livestock such as geese, and chickens. The farming practices are spray-free and sustainable, using methods that are in harmony with nature. We are located in Nimbin, a small town located in New South Wales, Australia, known for its alternative way of being and rich spiritual community. Our temple is a non-denominational spiritual gathering place that welcomes elements from all spiritual traditions. The temple is used for prayer, meditation, yoga, and other spiritual practices, as well as for larger community gatherings and celebrations including regular dances and other fun things. The overall focus of the property is on spirituality, mindfulness, and connection with nature. I and the other residents of the property share a commitment to living a conscious, intentional lifestyle that prioritizes spiritual growth and environmental sustainability.

Wurrabinya is home to Ian, Harly, Mac (b 2014), Mia (b 2015), Pooch, our kelpie kid (pet dog), a pair of budgies, several chooks and assorted wildlife and occasionally Nina (b2004). We have a 1/4 hectare block about 30 mins from the CBD, in the lovely Adelaide Hills, where we run chickens and have a range of fruit and nut, and native trees which primarily feed the local lorikeets, rosellas and cockatoos. Volunteering tasks for WWOOFers: Equates to 25 hours a week for full food and board and includes weed control, garden maintenance and chicken care. Accommodation: is in our house and we eat together. Ian works full time in town and Harly is busy with Mac & Mia, so an ability to work by yourself is a bonus. Very happy to host two friends and /or partners. Harly prefers women WWOOFers or a couple.

We are keen to learn more about, organic, sustainable and regenerative farming and to experience more of this wonderful country. We would like to meet new people and communities whilst we travel around Australia. We believe in locally sourced food from non-intensive operations and are keen to make a worthwhile contribution whilst learning and gaining experience in the field. We are both fit, enthusiastic and willing to work hard. We try to consume responsibly grown, fresh produce and feel that the WWOOFing community aligns with our principles in this regard. When we are finished travelling we hope to build a small house with a little patch of land to grow food for ourselves. We have heard great things about the WWOOFing experience and are looking forward to being involved.

I worked at a restaurant in Japan, so I’ve always been interested in food. I joined WWOOF because I’d like to try it as a new life experience. Also, I’d like to be in an English-speaking environment and feel Australian culture. Through WWOOF, I’d like to improve my English, meet new people, and learn more about Australia. I hope these experiences will help me grow and broaden my horizons.

Our sanctuary is located in the scenic Avon Valley WA, on 650ac easy to reach via an hour drive/train ride from Perth. The main purpose of our registered charity is to rescue and rehome domestic animals, and one of our next projects is to establish a large orchard,  based on permaculture principles to become self-sufficient and to invite experts to teach these principles to our local community.

I have helped with farm work in various areas of Japan. I would like to use this experience to volunteer in Australia as well. Also, this is my first time living in Australia, I would like to learn more about the Australian culture and the Australian way of life. Living directly with local people is also the best opportunity for me to get more practice in speaking English. Please tell me about it!

Before coming to WWOOF, I spent three months living in Sydney. I was transferred from the interior design company I worked for in Korea to its Australian branch. Although it was a short time, it made me realize that I wanted to stay in Australia longer. That’s why I’ve decided to meet the requirements to extend my visa—and joining WWOOF is one of the ways I’m doing that. But more than just ticking a box, I wanted to make this working holiday experience truly meaningful. I hope that when I look back on my time in Australia, I’ll have no regrets—and that’s what brought me here.

"Namoorook" circa 1895, is a beautifully restored homestead on 71 acres of farm land approximately 1.5 kms from Leongatha and 130kms from Melbourne. Adopting regenerative agricultural practices, Namoorook is a mixed farming operation with livestock, organic fruit orchard and vegetable gardens. We hope it will become an example of how food and farming systems can use the power of nature to increase biodiversity, enrich the soil, capture carbon, improve watersheds enhancing the entire ecosystem.

I'm really willing to get in touch with different ways of living and to learn tips of agriculture and sustainability for my future. I really like being in contact with nature and working with hands, body and soul, learning how to interact functionally in balance with Earth. I want to learn about permaculture and enjoy cultural exchange. And I want to become fluent in English. I hope to achieve adopting sustainable lifestyle. I want to live in a way that doesn’t harm the Earth. I don’t want to hurt other beings or nature by focusing only on human comfort. I absolutely love surfing and spending time in nature. I deeply respect the Earth, which constantly gives us wonder, challenges, and joy. Even if I can’t change the world overnight, I want to start with myself and my surroundings, learning and practicing what I can. I believe that what’s healthy for the body is also kind to the Earth and animals, and that it can be a source of positive energy.
