I joined WWOOF because I’m passionate about learning directly from people who live closely with nature. I believe that hands-on experience and connection with the land are some of the most valuable ways to grow — not just in skills, but as a person. Through WWOOF, I’m hoping to exchange energy, knowledge, and care, while contributing meaningfully to the places that welcome me. I’m excited to meet inspiring hosts, learn new ways of sustainable living, and be part of beautiful, hard-working communities along the way.

I joined WWOOF because I’m looking for a more grounded, intentional way of living—one that connects me with nature, people, and the food we eat. I want to learn hands-on skills, contribute to meaningful projects, and immerse myself in different ways of life while traveling. It’s also a chance for me to slow down, reconnect with myself, and enjoy the beauty of working outdoors

After living in the city for a long while I realised the need to live in nature.  Appreciating the abundance of nature, supplying your own food and setting your spiritual self free is what I realised is the most natural way to live. The number of farmers in Japan is decreasing and the average age of farmers is getting higher. I felt the need to learn how to supply your own food. The massive use of chemicals in farming is also a serious problem in Japan. I learned it damages the microbiom network in the soil and results in less nutritious vegetables. We also take in those chemicals through eating the vegetables. Therefore I became interested in learning how to live on your own in a way that does as less harm as possible to the environment and human beings.

I joined WWOOF cause I I want to really get to know a country, meet people, understand their culture and see as much nature as possible. My goal for 2025 is to shear a sheep. Let's see how that works out! 🙂 If you can help me achieve this goal (for example, because you own sheep), I would be very grateful.

We heard about WWOOF through a recommendation from a friend who said her experience was amazing. Being from the queer community too, we felt that WWOOF was a safe place to look for volunteering opportunities. Personally, one of the most important things to achieve by WWOOFing is meeting new people and helping the local area through the work we do.

We want to discover as much as we can about different cultures and diets as we can, and meeting locals seems the best way to do that. We also want to learn some new skills, and WWOOFing offers all of this in a way that allows us to hopefully do some good as well.

I heard about WWOOFing through a gardener I work with and she couldn’t recommend it highly enough, having met lifelong friends and wonderful hosts - me and my best friend have a month free in Australia during our travelling experience and it just feels like the absolute right experience for us. We would love to see authentic parts of Australia and get the opportunity to experience them with lovely locals. I am a gardener by trade so am familiar with a lot of the work required - I adore carrying out fulfilling work outdoors and hope we can offer hard work and friendship 🙂

Spend more time in nature and learn how to grow my own food. Want to get away from the city and connect with like minded people. Keen to learn new farming methods and how things are done on your farm, I believe I can contribute to it!
