I discovered Wwoofing through my brother, as he had already gained experience with it in Canada. I think it's a great way to meet new people, gain new experiences and get to know new places. It's also a great way to exchange ideas and try out new things.

I joined WWOOF as I felt that it would be a great platform for me to connect to different farmers and learn more about Australian culture. As I am studying Agricultural Science, I believe that the skills that I will pick up from these experiences will be beneficial as well. Not only that, this would be a great way for me to take a break from my studies!

Widgeongully is a 2000Ha property which has the Murrumbidgee River flowing past on one boundary. There are 5 families living on the farm enjoying many different occupations on farm and off. Two vets as well as sheep farmers and one family who have restored the old shearing quarters for accommodation. The farm is about 6km from a little thriving village called Jugiong where lots of people stop for refreshments at the local pub and motel and cafe. I am involved in the maintainance and development of a very large organic vegetable and fruit garden and am in the process of building an organic swimming pool. Activities at the moment will be involved in completing the organic pool and growing plants and planting trees as well as lots of other fun activities growing food and nuturing the soil.

I joined WWOOF because I love trying new things and stepping outside my comfort zone. Traveling is something I’m really passionate about, and WWOOF is such a cool way to do that while learning new skills and meeting great people. As a college student, I’m always looking for budget-friendly ways to explore, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity to experience different lifestyles while working in unique environments. I’m so excited for the adventure ahead!

I am very interested in learning about permaculture, biodynamic organic gardening/farming, sustainability, community style living, land and soil regeneration, food foresting, homesteading, taking care of farm animals, and equine-assisted therapy. I hope to have my own space in the future to live in this way and share what I have learned with others. I consider myself to be a capable learner and dependable.

I enjoy working in my garden and would like to use my stay in Australia to get involved in organic farming. My son went WWOOFing in England when he was at school. I already knew at that point that I would really like to try it out. I love meeting new people and mastering new challenges.

My grandmother loves gardening, and I love gardening too. I prefer living closer to nature than closer to a city. I would like to learn more about gardening from family in Australia

I loved the countryside life in Japan. I also lived with my grandmother and grew vegetables in a small garden. I would like to learn how to grow vegetables and fruits in Australia and how to cook them. English is our second language and I am not fluent, but I am willing to learn and would like to learn various Australian cultures through English. I think that being able to have such experiences is the strength of this site.

I am 40 years old, an engineer (software), and a science and tech enthusiast. The closest thing I had with any farming is when I helped my mum gardening back in the 90s, and a some farm visits in adult life. Back in childhood, playing with mud, sand (not one like the sterilized sandpits) and climbing trees, and getting dirty was an (almost) everyday thing. I have had brief exposure to modern day farming practices like Hydroponics for a few days when I helped on a small strawberry farm 15 years ago. I want to start volunteering and gain hands on experience on an organic / biodynamic / permaculture farming, and be productive. My wife and I both are on the same page, and she encouraged me to sign up. We have 2 kids 8 and 5. I want them to get know the basics of food comes to their plates.

I joined WWOOF to gain hands-on experience in sustainable farming while connecting with like-minded people. I’ve always been passionate about working with the earth and caring for animals, and I believe WWOOFing will give me the opportunity to learn sustainable farming practices while connecting with the natural world. I hope to gain hands-on experience, contribute to eco-friendly practices, and deepen my understanding of how we can live in harmony with nature. Through this journey, I aim to grow both personally and environmentally, to broaden my understanding of sustainable living, embrace a self-sufficient lifestyle and explore diverse cultures while making a positive impact on the environment.

Skills I Want to Learn:
I WWOOFed on a cranberry farm in Oregon, USA early in my undergraduate career. I was an environmental science major at the time and was studying global food systems through the lens of sustainability. While I have since pivoted to medicine as I fell in love with biology and the idea of working with patients, I still have a deep appreciation for food as a way to bring people together and the act of cultivation.

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
