We want to leave the hostels and get to know the people and culture of Australia, experience for ourselves what it is like to live and work on a farm. However, we are not doing this for the money, but to contribute charitably and for the experience.

Orchard Cottage grows field roses for picking, as well as hydrangeas and other flowers, on 1 acre. The roses are grown for sale to the general public and wholesale. I am situated in the hinterland of the Mornington Peninsula, overlooking Philip Island. If you would like to go sightseeing during your stay I am willing to drive you around. The closest beaches are Shoreham and Point Leo. Volunteering includes picking roses, maintenance of rose bushes, weeding, mulching and general garden maintenance as the garden is open to the public and needs to be kept neat & tidy. As the garden is open to the public, we prefer English speaking WWOOFERS but not necessarily. We start early at 7am and work 4-6 hrs. The work is not difficult, but we prefer those who are adaptable to a variety of jobs. Accommodation within my home. Shared meals. Mixed diet. No children. No smoking on property. Initial stay is 1 week, longer stays negotiable depending on time of year. You can get here by public transport - take a train to Frankston, then the 788 bus (Bay H) to Dromana where I will pick you up.

Yuzu had previously joined WWOOF in Japan and immediately recommended it for our trip to Australia. Joining WWOOF presents us with the chance to experience Australia whilst also ensuring that any work that we do has a positive impact on both Australia and the people and communities that we meet. Furthermore, gaining the privilege to join WWOOF will widen our horizons immensely, allow us to learn new things, and gain an incredible trove of experiences that will shape our lives to come, inside and outside of Australia.

Wwoof is great, because it’s one of the best ways to get to know different ways of living and getting inspired how you could have an organic farm on your own one day. We both have had marvelous encounters and wwoofing experiences all over the world so far and enjoyed learning and experimenting.

I wanted to find an avenue where I can truly be one with nature and experience the full farm life experience, from farming to animal care. I also wish to help around by volunteering with the farms available to learn new skills and gain new insights!

The whole reason we wanted to travel was to experience something new and authentic, and we are positive we will get what we are looking for through living the everyday life of a farmer. To volunteer is essential since getting rid of the employee/employer dynamic makes room to have a more meaningful and, as previously mentioned, authentic relationship. We would love to make new connections with the kind people of Australia and what better way is there then to put on the shoes of another person to do that!

Our little farm is 290 acres of half bush and half pasture where we run horses and ponies. We are approximately 140km from the Perth hills and within 25-55km of 4 towns. We also run a rural contracting business operating road trains to cart grain and lime sand and spreaders to spread lime sand and fertiliser. Our contracting work is based over about a 450km radius so there is a bit of working away for my husband. We have 4 children 3 of which are grown up and out in the workforce and our youngest will be away at Ag School next year so I am looking for someone who is capable around horses to come and stay to experience our farm life and to give me some help around the farm. There is plenty of opportunity for horse riding and I would prefer someone who loves to ride and be around horses.

The property is evolving with a new greenhouse, vegetable plantation, and various animals, offering a peaceful countryside experience. Not to mention 10-15 dogs visiting daily for daycare. Animals lovers only!

We live on a 5-acre hobby farm in the beautiful Huon Valley, Southern Tasmania. Our family consists of three active children, two horses, many chickens, and two gorgeous dogs. We grow organic vegetables and breed heritage chickens to be more sustainable. If you would like a Tassie small farm experience, then come and learn from us. We have separate accommodation, with a bathroom and delicious healthy meals. There are many areas of natural beauty in Southern Tasmania, which are all fairly close to us. For example, the Hartz mountains, Hastings Caves and the Tahune Airwalk. We live close to a sleepy village called Cygnet and Hobart is only a 40min drive away.

I'm interested to see how different people live sustainably. I grew up in the middle of the US in a pretty much monocrop state, but when thinking about how I would like to live in the future, I would like to have a diverse garden at least. It would be really lovely to see how others incorporate greenery into their lives. I also want to see corners of Australia that I wouldn't otherwise see!

Interested in good food (and where it comes from), geography, connecting with people and places. Particularly eager to learn more about and help with landcare, animal husbandry, permaculture, farm work, general practical/outdoor skills. Grew up in small-town coastal Aus, not afraid of hard work, mud or muck. I also have extensive education/childcare experience and am a pretty tidy person, so happy to help with indoor/family tasks as well. Happy working with other people (often described by other as friendly/chatty) or in customer facing roles. To live and work with: I'm generally calm, early sleeper and riser, clean and organised, practice yoga daily, non-smoker and rarely drink but more than able to be around other ways of living (once had 30 housemates for over a year!). I think I tend to work best when I am also being challenged (physically or mentally), enjoy working with and getting to know others, but am also quite independent and happy to get on with a job or do my own thing.
