For both of us, human connection is a vital part of traveling. Sharing moments with the locals is the best way to learn about a country’s culture and truly understand its environment. That’s why wwoofing is perfect for us—it allows us to meet people at the start of our journey and immerse ourselves in Australian culture.

I love gardening! I have spent a handful of years working on organic veggie farms back home as well as a ranch. I love being able to learn about gardening in new climates and connect with other farmers,

I would like to work in agriculture or research regenerative agriculture in the near future. Therefore, I joined WWOOF to learn about organic and permaculture farms, how they are actually managed, what is difficult about them, whether there is room for improvement, and what is the most important thing.

I find peace and joy when surrounded by nature, and I have always admired a lifestyle close to it. When I learned about WWOOF, I saw it as a wonderful opportunity to experience such a life firsthand. I also enjoy cultural exchanges, meeting new people, and gaining different perspectives. I believe that spending time with hosts and learning from them will be an invaluable experience. Currently, I am at a point in my life where I am exploring what I truly enjoy and the path I want to take in the future. I hope that my time with WWOOF will lead to personal growth and new discoveries. By helping hosts with their daily tasks, I want to express my gratitude and do my best to support their work.

Nine Planets lies at the end of the Chapman River Sanctuary adjacent Lashmar's Lagoon Sanctuary and about 600 meters from Antechamber Bay, one of the largest, most pristine and undisturbed beaches on Kangaroo Island's coast. The Chapman River teams with bream and the beach is a sanctuary for endangered hooded plovers which nest in the sand just above the high water line in late spring. Garfish, tommies, flathead and mullet can be caught from the beach if you are adept at shore fishing. Lashmar's Lagoon is a sanctuary for waterbirds and teems with black swans, ducks, pelicans, sacred ibis and other birds. In winter and spring black swans grazing in pasture adjacent the lagoon outnumber farmers' sheep. Kangaroos, wallabies and goannas usually visit daily and dozens of bird species including magpies, currawongs, superb fairywrens, honeyeaters, thornbills, red browed finches and silver eyes call in for a drink and/or bath, whilst wedge tailed eagles and the very rare white bellied sea eagle may be seen soaring overhead. At night the calls of boobook owls can be heard in the distance. It is often windy, but rarely very hot or very cold.

I started with a pioneering spirit, dug the stump holes, planted the trees. Over a decade on, I have created spaces I wish to share and explore more.

I love talking with locals to understand their life. I crossed the whole New Zealand with this method (1 week per woofing) between Auckland and Queestown. This experience is probably one of the best of my life (even if its a bit stressfull) so i tought it could be good to do it also in Australia even i'm not staying that long.

I joined WWOOF because I want to explore Australia in a meaningful and grounded way – by connecting with people, learning from their experience, and giving something back through my work. I’m hoping to gain new skills, discover different lifestyles, and contribute wherever I can.

I joined WWOOF on the suggestion of my ADHD coach, to break up the current monotony and bad habits in my life, experience something new and meaningful, and to get back in touch with myself, and nature.

We have five acres of land and special gardens on the outskirts of the clay pans, nestled in between Mount Ertwa and the gracious MacDonnell Range at Ilparpa just outside of Alice Springs. The birdlife, wildlife and native garden is serene and full of beauty. We have adopted a permaculture ethos while also battling the invasive weed of buffel grass in the hopes of restoring and revegetating the land back into its natural habitat.

I have joined WOOF to gain a better understanding of organic farming. I am wishing to gain a deeper understanding of local farms in my area and engage more manfully with the land and local food growers. I value WOOF’s organic values as I have a passion for food and I understand the damage that the harsh chemicals used in the traditional agriculture sector has caused. As someone who tries to move away from this, I am wishing to immerse myself into a sustainable way of life surrounded my a like minded community. I enjoy learning how to lessen my environmental impact and am wanting to further this knowledge with practical applications. I am passionate about gardening and am excited at the opportunity to make a difference I’m my local community as I understand the change truly starts in nature. Finally, I am hard working, passionate and I would be honoured to work on any sort of farm so I would love to be considered for any sort of work you have available. Thanks.

The reason I want to participate in this program is because I want to have experience and I want to get involved with a lot of different people. I learned about this program because of my sister's recommendation. I was interested in this volunteer and as I looked into it, my desire to do it grew. I’m living in near the city and It’s not countryside. This place is very comfortable but I want to feel nature and I want to experience the difficulties of the people working on the farm, the importance of living things and appreciation of food. I have school break. I thought it would be very nice opportunity to have such a wonderful experience during the school holidays. Also, I wanted to expand my perspective by coming into contact with other cultures and I wanted to go to a tough environment and grow myself so I decided to participate.

Skills I Want to Learn: Disaster Recovery assistance (for visa extensions)
Honestly, my primary goal with joining WWOOF is to fulfill my 88 days requirement for my visa. However, I think the opportunities presented by the organization are so much more conducive to sincerely meeting new people and providing for small, tight-knit communities. It's the type of environment I can really grow in!

I decided to join this program because I want to challenge myself. Although my English is not very strong, I am eager to communicate with local people and build real connections. Through my volunteer experience in high school, I became interested in studying environmental science at university, so I am very excited about experiencing life on a farm. I believe that learning English, experiencing farm work, and connecting with local people will help me discover something special about myself. I want to see, feel, and experience everything firsthand, and take on this new adventure with a positive spirit!
