I was introduced to WWOOF by an English assistant teacher in Japan. Although I feel some uncertainty about living in a place with no acquaintances and limited communication skills, I want to take on the challenge. I hope to experience a way of life very different from Japan, explore the possibility of working as a cowboy, and fully enjoy Australia’s nature for the first time while learning through exchange with my host.

My goal is to improve my English through interacting with people and experiencing nature. My grandfather lives in the countryside of Japan and grows a variety of plants. I only get to see him a few times a year, but every time we meet I'm so happy to be able to take care of the plants together. I also have a dream of interacting with and taking care of animals that are not so familiar to me, such as sheep and goats. WWOOF. Through this, I hope to be able to communicate with people who live in different environments that I have never met before, help each other, and experience various things, such as taking care of animals and plants, which is my dream. Also, since I am not fluent in English, I would like to communicate a lot in English and improve my English skills. I would also like to talk a lot about traditional Japanese things.

Expect to be welcomed into a relaxed family atmosphere by myself and my friendly dog 'Yin Yin' Whispering Winds is in remote bushland 28km south of Cooktown. and is 'Off grid' with solar power, creek water, satellite WiFi and no mobile reception. You are expected to do a variety of activities, including fruit picking and processing, making pickles, wine etc. Helping my tropical orchard and vegetable gardens thrive with love and care, weeding, composting, collecting seeds, potting up and planting fruit trees and to help with building and other maintenance projects. I practice Biodynamics, and am part of a regional BD stirring and prep group that meets once a month when the Moon is in opposition to Saturn, this can be at Whispering Winds or at another property close by, wwoofers are very welcome to join in these informative and social days. Please take time while you are here to enjoy the peace of the bush, relax, swim in our croc free lagoon, stargaze by the camp fire, bushwalk through the rainforest to waterfalls. WWOOFer's accommodation is in a large, private caravan accommodation, with comfortable beds, a king and a single. Meals are varied and home made, mostly vegetarian, with plenty of ingredients from the garden. I'm not concerned about your vaccination status, I believe our health is no-ones business except our own and those we choose to share that information with. We welcome children. b.a. I joined WWOOF Australia because I wanted to experience authentic farm life, learn new skills, and connect with locals while giving something back to the community. I enjoy working outdoors and getting my hands dirty – whether it’s in the garden, with animals, or helping with building and repair work. Another important reason I joined is that some WWOOF hosts offer work that qualifies for the Working Holiday Visa extension through bushfire or natural disaster recovery efforts. I’m keen to contribute in areas where help is needed and at the same time work toward extending my stay in this amazing country.

**2025 Spring is coming! Last Minute and Planned stays are both welcome if our values and experiences align** Our beautiful 10 acre property is located in stunning, lush South Gippsland - 1.5 hrs from Melbourne CBD and 15 minutes from magnificent Inverloch beaches. We have just taken over this property from lovely owners who have created a beautiful space. We are planting out our fruit orchard and preparing our vegie garden for summer, growing a huge variety of heirloom vegies and fruits. We are also setting up a small Australian wildflower garden for cut flowers and bouquets, along with traditional cut flowers. We follow organic and permaculture practices. An abundance of Australian wildlife resides on the property. Opportunities to stay at Shallock Burn are year round. 2025 Spring/Summer: preparing garden beds, collecting kindling, preserving produce, germinating seeds, painting fences, trimming trees etc - these is lots to do and we happily allocate a variety of tasks within various capabilities. We cater to all dietary requirements. We delight in the opportunity to share our knowledge, predominantly in growing produce.

We are hoping to find likeminded people around the country that want to live collaboratively, make art and music, and work with the land to create abundance. We are currently pursuing our honours in agroforestry and would like to share thoughts and ideas, collect data and validate some research with each of the hosts that we stay with (if you're keen).

We joined WWOOFing because we wanted to have a different experience, beyond traditional tourism. We are delighted to be able to immerse ourselves in Australian culture from the inside, learning about local traditions, farming practices and everyday life. We also hope to improve our English through enriching interactions and conversations with our hosts. In addition, we are particularly eager to learn more about horses and the equestrian world, from horse care to riding and training practices. Above all, we want to share authentic moments, actively contribute to the farm and forge bonds based on mutual learning and respect. Through this experience, we hope not only to gain practical skills, but also to create memories and friendships that will last a lifetime.

Having visited Australia many times (I'm half Australian!) I am intrigued by it's unique ecosystem, which I would love to learn more about. WWOOF seemed like the perfect way to experience the Australian countryside and learn about it's way of life. I also love the idea of living off-grid and being self-sufficient.

I love spending time outdoors with my friends or family. At home we have a big garden which I really like. There we have a lot of fruit trees and plants. I enjoy being in the nature whether it’s going for a swim, riding my bicycle or working in the garden. In addition I do not only have a big heart for kids, as I mentioned before but also for animals. I also really like vegetarian and vegan cooking and love trying out new recipes. I’m excited to learn new things, lend a hand wherever it’s needed with the kids, animals, in the kitchen, garden or around the house and be part of everyday life in a new place. I’m looking forward to new experiences!

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
