I grew up listening to my father’s stories about how he traveled with WWOOF, met amazing people and learned so much about farming culture and methods from around the world. When I decided to take a sabbatical and travel to Australia, joining WWOOF seemed like a logical decision.

I would like, since I've never done it but often dreamt of it, to live in a farm/orchard/whatever and learn more about animals and nature. I'm used to stay in close contact with both but I'd like to try to live it in this form. I'm also thinking to grow my own food and have some animals when I go back home so I'd love to learn more about this all. I want to contribute to the ecological transition in my way and this could be a start.

There is a 1 acre garden set on the northern end of the 2.5 has. I grow a mix of vegetables, herbs and slowly developing a native garden with the other two happening amongst all this. Lets call it a productive mess because things are done on feel more than a set plan. I am chemical free and use bio-dynamic principles. So there is lots of gardening to do from maintenance to further development. I live in a comfortable house which I am currently painting as time allows. The property is on the south coast of NSW near Narooma, so there is plenty of opportunities to swim, explore the coastline and National Parks. This place is set amongst bushland and on a side road with about 10 other properties of the same size.

I'm not here on holiday for a year just to do nothing. I am a working person who always have to do something. Working in Australia, helping out getting to know the land and its people by locals is perfectly whats suits my expectations as a Work and Holiday Maker. Another reason for me joining WWOOF is having a roof over the head, enjoying a hot shower or something in exchange for work in the meantime because my fiancé and I are currently sleeping in our self-build camper/car. Therefore this will be quite a good experience for the both of us.

I decided to join WWOOF because it seems like a very fulfilling and enriching way to travel. I am very curious to learn more about organic practises and I’ve wanted to try volunteering for longer periods for quite a while so it just seems like the perfect opportunity!

We chose WWOOFing to save some money and to make new experiences. We like to extend our horizon of capabilities. We had a hard time looking for jobs and this sounded like the great opportunity.

Quite simply because I want to try something new. For me, woofing means trying out something new and acquiring new knowledge. I think it's great to learn about farm work and animal care, as these are the cornerstones of our supply chains. I want to help out myself, to know and feel what it's like to help out on a farm in the countryside. But also to get to know the hosts, to live together with them, to work, talk, laugh, eat - simply to go through everyday life together. I hope to further improve my language skills and expand my vocabulary. At the same time, I also hope to learn about nature and farm work and gain practical experience. I've also heard nothing but good things from two friends who have already taken part in WWOOF. And of course, I would also be delighted to be shown around the local area 🙂

After returning to my home country, I hope to utilize the knowledge and skills I gained in Australia to contribute to a new job. In the future, I want to start a self-sufficient lifestyle in a place surrounded by nature, so I’m eager to learn more about farming!

I came to Australia for an experience. Urban life is an experience, but I pursue one that can only be done in Australia. Life in a busy city is something I can do in my own country. I thought woofs would make my wish come true.

We are both eager to spend time getting our hands in the dirt and grounding ourselves in relationship with mother nature, as well as learning more about day-to-day life in Australia. Cameron is excited to gain experience with the full growing/cultivation practice of food as a cook. Sabrina is set to start school in Traditional Chinese Medicine upon returning to the US and is eager to learn about plant medicine, food as medicine, and general cultivation/land stewardship practices.

I want to experience the Australian lifestyle by meeting new people, working in different environments, and exploring the culture, food, and nature. Living and working in Australia allows me to see how people from different backgrounds live, and I enjoy learning from them. I also want to improve my English skills while adapting to the local way of life. Experiencing new things every day makes my time in Australia exciting and meaningful.

My Farm is a mixed Farm with traditional methods of farming. Coming originally from a Italian Island where for many generations we use organic techniques for farming and growing. I’m trying to apply my knowledge and build slowly a self sustained activity. With: goats, sheep, pigs, many chickens, donkeys, horses, cows and some ducks we produce our own composts mixing it with straw and leaves and vegetables cuts and leftover hay… everything is produced at the farm. We also cut hay every year. 90 acres of peace. Small olive grove, good size vegetable garden., fruit trees scattered around the farm. Our new mission is to walk the Farm towards a small tourist attraction… Having guest visiting and enjoying the surroundings. We for now are members with Hipcamp. They take bookings and send people for us.. Our Farm is directly connected to our Restaurant in Melbourne. Most produce goes to our place in Melbourne to create clean, delicious dishes for our guests.

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
