I chose to join WWOOF to experience an adventure that combines my passions for nature, human connections, and hands-on learning. What attracts me to woofing is the opportunity to participate in concrete projects while discovering new ways of living. For me, it's a chance to immerse myself in a different environment and to be useful. By WWOOFing, I hope to develop new skills related to sustainable agriculture, eco-construction, or even farm management. I want to learn by doing, being at the heart of the action, and discovering traditional know-how. My goal is to understand how to live more sustainably while contributing to the projects that will host me. I see woofing as a wonderful opportunity to build connections, share life experiences, and discover local cultures. For me, it is as much a human adventure as a practical one, and I am ready to fully invest myself.

Like I said in the “about me” section, a goal of mine for the future is to have a homestead one day. I aim to create a life for myself that has as little negative impact on the planet as possible. I understand that there is a lot of background knowledge that goes into setting-up and running a successful homestead. I want to learn sustainable farming skills and animal husbandry skills. Additionally, I want to learn about land management, soil health, and regional foraging. I have many friends who have WWOOFed, and I believe it is a really wonderful way to attain these sorts of skills while also experiencing new places and meeting new people.

In my gap year I would like to travel and I think WWOOFing is a perfect opportunity to get to know the everyday life in a country and do something I will probably never do again in my life. By WWOOFing I hope to meet new people and make new experiences.

I joined WWOOF to connect with like-minded people, learn more about sustainable living, and gain hands-on experience in organic farming. I also need to complete specified workdays to support my visa requirements. I hope to exchange skills, contribute to your farm, and immerse myself in a meaningful lifestyle while exploring Australia’s beautiful landscapes and cultures.

I joined WWOOF to immerse myself in new cultures and learn about sustainable farming practices. By taking part in WWOOF I hope to gain practical experience, network with like-minded people and make a positive contribution. It will also be a great way for me to improve my foreign language skills. Coming to Australia was a childhood dream and I wanted to do something meaningful. I heard about WWOOFing from a friend and that inspired me to try it. I have very little experience of working in gardens, having helped out in my grandparents' vegetable garden in Italy. I'm looking forward to fulfilling this dream and learning from my experiences.

I have signed up to wwoof whilst I am on university holidays. I would love to meet and learn from hosts, hearing their stories and life journeys. I have a keen interest in learning about growing my own food organically. Not being reliant on going to the grocery store is the ultimate goal. I would love to learn about off grid housing as being part of building my own eco home is a dream of mine. I don’t have any experience in construction, but I am keen to learn. Learning about off grid housing- solar, water, waste etc. I have experience in conservation and land management having completed my Certificate II. I would love to learn more about rehabilitation. Taking land that has been degraded and restoring it back to a thriving ecosystem. My dream is to be one day living off the land, being self-sufficient in my off-grid home. Raising my babies in nature with my soulmate.

I joined WWOOF because I needed a reset. For the last 6 years I’ve worked a job in the city and over time I’ve found that the job, where I live and the life I’m living don’t align with my values and it’s not the life I want to live. So I’ve quit the job and I’m looking to reset. I really wanted to spend a bit of time travelling and volunteering, working outside in nature (instead of being glued to a laptop), and meeting new people who I can learn a variety of skills from that I hope to implement into my own life. My mum shared a link to WWOOF and it ticked all the boxes and was exactly what I was looking for!

As I said in the description of myself, the reason I am currently in Australia is to change air and discover the world. Apart from immersing myself in a foreign country 17 000 kilometers away from my hometown in the south of France, my strategy to do so is to meet new australian people, in order to capture all the nuances of a culture and a way of life that is completely unknown to me. Having that is mind, I realized that woofing was the best way to fulfil this goal. Working side by side for australians in exchange for food and accomodation, in a friendly and familiy-like atmosphere sounds like the perfect plan to me. Beyond financial reasons, I litteraly live to discover and to meet new people. I think that it's the best way for anyone to be free with himself and others, and (obviously) to be open to all kinds of humanbeings, which are two fundamental ingredients in the recipe of hapiness, to say the least! These are the reasons I joined WWOOF !

Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type:
Dark Horse Farm is a 100 acre organic farm 7kms from beautiful Yackandandah in North East Victoria. We are a registered carbon farm - the first small acreage property to be accredited. Tree planting will begin again in the Australian Autumn. We also have a large vegetable patch that needs daily care, fruit trees, 7 horses, 4 goats, 4 chickens, 2 sheep and 5 pet dogs. Our ideal match would be a vegetarian or vegan couple or single who love animals and is passionate about regeneration. You would also not be shy about the every day mundane tasks - we spend a lot of time mowing, brush cutting weeding and redistributing horse manure. Accommodation for our WWOOFs is a well appointed caravan.

We want to travel quite slowly around Australia and soak up each place that we visit, meeting and getting to know people along the way. We both loving being outdoors and learning new skills and feel that WWOOFing is the perfect way to do this. We love getting stuck into projects and it will be really interesting to see how people are living alongside nature on the other side of the world.

We're a young Italian couple seeking a unique travel experience. WWOOFing allows us to explore the beautiful Australian countryside, learn about sustainable agriculture, and connect with people who share our passion for nature. We're excited to contribute to the farm and learn new skills.

I hope that woofing will give me an insight into the lives of Australians, physical activity and the satisfaction that comes with having achieved something, learnig something new, sharing a good mood, making new friends, chatting about everything under the sun and the world (which will hopefully improve my english) and I really enjoy the occasional campfire evening. In Germany, I did an internship with two horse trainers for four months and really enjoyed this very busy time. I really enjoyed the sense of community and especially the good atmosphere. This will be my first time woofing and I'm really looking forward to this experience which might be quite similar to the externships but will hopefully get me to learn a hole lot of things like baking, making cheese, fermenting food or even other things I do not know yet.

I love the idea of sharing moment with this community, sharing knowledge, and sharing experiences from all over the world. I am motivated, very sociable, and always in good spirits. I find great joy in helping others and sharing friendly moments with hosts and fellow volunteers alike. I'm also passionate about organic food, and the way we can all grow our own food. Knowing how to. be self-suffisant in a way as much as possible !

I’m drawn to WWOOFing because many hosts focus on sustainable land management, permaculture, and wildlife-friendly farming, all of which would give me valuable experience for wildlife conservation roles. It’s also a cost-effective way to travel, as food and accommodation are provided, which will help stretch my budget while I settle in and explore job options. I see it as a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build practical outdoor skills, which would make me more competitive for roles like bush regeneration and other conservation work. The chance to network with like-minded individuals who are passionate about sustainability and land management is another big draw, as it could open up new opportunities. Lastly, I enjoy spending time in nature and being out in the field, so working on farms and properties in rural areas seems like something I’d really enjoy.

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
