Skills I Want to Learn:
I would like to do some woofing because I think it is an excellent way of meeting local people and exploring the country in greater depth, away from the big cities. It would allow me to share my daily life with local people and learn more about Australian culture, whether it is its history, its food or its slang, which I haven't yet mastered. Through this experience, I will also be able to learn farming skills that will help me find a job on a farm later on. I am someone who loves manual work (I have been tinkering and painting since childhood). Having grown up in the countryside, this would give me the opportunity to rediscover some of my roots by being in a more rural environment and closer to animals. I like the fact that many hosts are committed to organic and sustainable farming. I am committed to being more environmentally friendly myself in France.

We are eager to expand our skillsets, as we're both interested in farm and garden work. We haven't had many opportunities in our lives to gain these skills, so we're excited to learn a lot. We look forward to meeting all sorts of different people as well, and pushing our comfort limits through putting ourselves into situations we're not familiar with. We've heard amazing things about the connections that people have made through their WWOOFing experiences, and that's very appealing to both of us, as meeting new people has been our favourite part about travelling so far.

Accommodation Type:
Our beautiful 10 acre property is located in stunning, lush South Gippsland - 1.5 hrs from Melbourne CBD and 15 minutes from magnificent Inverloch beaches. We have just taken over this property from lovely owners who have created a beautiful space. We are planting out our fruit orchard and preparing our vegie garden for summer, growing a huge variety of heirloom vegies and fruits. We are also setting up a small Australian wildflower garden for cut flowers and bouquets, along with traditional cut flowers. We are also planning to set up/build a roadside stall for selling produce. We follow organic and permaculture practices. An abundance of Australian wildlife resides on the property. Opportunities to stay at Shallock Burn commence early October 2024 until the end of Autumn. Spring/Summer: preparing garden beds, collecting kindling, preserving produce, germinating seeds, painting fences, trimming trees etc We cater to all dietary requirements. We delight in the opportunity to share our knowledge, predominently in growing produce.

Throughout my time in school, I have struggled with this feeling of being boxed in, restricted from the outside, from the natural world. So, with that in mind, I decided to break free from UCSC for a bit, in order to explore a more flexible and fitting alternative: WWOOF. The lessons to be learned through such a program, I feel, are essential, especially when it comes to leading a sustainable, comfortable lifestyle. I hope to build a homestead of my own one day, and through this experience I expect to learn what that means and, ultimately, how I can make that possible.

I joined WWOOF to be connected with like-minded people. I want to make friends with both hosts and other volunteers whilst also doing my part to give back whilst travelling. At home, I regularly volunteered and organised fundraising events and it made me feel good, so I would like to continue this on my travels

I joined WWOOF in order to learn about the authentic life in Australia and get in contact with locals. Additionally, I love to challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone and search for new adventures and learn a diverse range of new practical skills. Sustainability is also very important to me so learning about eco friendly and organic farming, knowing where my foods actually come from and picking them locally is a great experience for myself. Mainly though, I want to experience the satisfaction after a hard workday, while helping alongside my host family and maybe forming a great friendship with them.

I want to know Australian culture better and I think the best way to do that is to live and work with Australians. Also WWOOF sounds very promising and like a nice adventure. I want to experience an adventure and I think this is exactly the right thing. I love working with animals and the nature so I guess WWOOF is exactly the right thing for me. My current work colleague has also only had good experiences with wwoofing.

I have an interest in seeing how a commercial farm does things organically. I also may have the need to stay in Victoria for about six weeks to be available to a person who is planning to go to a drug rehabilitation center in Victoria.

After hearing about it from a friend at work, I thought it would be worth looking into as I spent most of last year travelling around europe and moving from hostel to hostel doing the camino de santiago, I learned how fantastic it can be to share space and meet people from all different walks of life, and WWOOF sounds like another perfect way to do that as I try out living in Australia.
