I'm interested to learn about horticulture and permacultural practices in Australia. Specifically interested in the usage or native plants to facilitate biodiversity and growth. I also take an interest in the construction and design of buildings via old-fashioned and traditional methods such a clay and stone brick-laying.

It sounds like an amazing experience! Working on an organic farm in Australia would offer a unique opportunity to connect with nature, learn about sustainable farming practices, and be immersed in the Australian culture. It's a chance to learn about organic farming techniques and contribute to the global movement towards a more sustainable and eco-friendly future. Plus, I'd have the satisfaction of knowing that I was directly involved in producing healthy and nutritious food for people. And that's without mentioning the incredible wildlife I could encounter. It's a chance to step out of my comfort zone, meet new people from all over the world, and make lifelong memories. I'm passionate about sustainable living, love the outdoors, and want to experience the beauty of Australia, working on an organic farm!

My initial plan was to support a farm. So, I looked for some options online and came across WWOOF. The fair concept of working for board and lodging convinced from the beginning, which is why I decided to go for WWOOF. Overall, from WWOOFing I hope to get to know nice people and another culture, have close contact with animals, improve my English and just have a great time.

Although I have lived most of my life in the city and have never been involved in real agriculture except for some gardening classes in junior high and high school, I am interested in Australia's nature and people's lives. Now I am looking to explore outside the city and gain a better understanding of different types of Australian life through this farmstay. I am excited to connect with nature and create memories with warm hosts like you.

I've always wanted to live in other country and experience different life style. It's difficult to stay at a hotel for a long time because I don't have much money. However, if I join WWOOF, I don't need to worry about staying fee that's why I decided to join WWOOF. I want to absorb the culture, skills of agriculture and communication with various people that have different cultural background. I want to stay and work in English-speaking country. Australia is the nearest English-speaking country that's easy to go. In the guesthouse I work, I meet many Australian people. To talk with them more fluently, II think it's important to go to Australia.

I'm joining WWOOF because it’s a way to connect with new people and to discover different skills. I feel I can learn a lot from an experience like that. It's a way of gaining a better understanding of the environment in which we live, but also of people's know-how. I'm a very curious person and I like to get out of my comfort zone, which is why a project like this one could be of great benefit to me.

I’m from a small town in Florida in the United States and I come from a long line of potato farmers. We still own a large amount of land, but for the majority of my life its been rented to another farmer to use. I am joining WWOOF because I want to work on regenerative farms to learn techniques and someday begin farming on my familys land again. I also want to experience the culture of Australia and build connections with the family that hosts me.

I bacame a member of WWOOF bacause of my interest in living on the country side and spending time around animals. I'm very interested in getting educated in farming and especially organic farming, since that's something that is very close to the heart. Fruit farms are not very common in Sweden so learning more about Australian fruit farming would be amazing. Since I’m a woman from a small town Perth is way too big of a city for me and I’m longing to get out and experience the Australian country side. It would be a lovely experience working on a farm while being educated.

Our land is 59 acres in a beautiful part of the Huon Valley - Geeveston. Overall we are looking to create a landscape that is rich in biodiversity and can provide for us and our local community. We have part of the land that needs restoring so lots of weed management (gorse and thistles) other parts have been restored and need maintenance small trees have been planted. We also have plans to build a greenhouse where our house is currently built. The land has some forest, a lovely creek that boundaries the property and a friendly platypus that lives in the dam. We have 6 cows, 6 sheep, 4 goats, turkey and chickens. We need help with the day-to-day tasks but also keen to get volunteers who want to take a project on and be immersed into it. We are open to creativity, we like to work hard but also have lots of fun as we go along. We are in our learning journey so come along and join the ride

I started working on a small-scale organic and as sustainable-as-possible flower farm in my home town at 18, this experience planted a seed in me, I could channel my climate anxiety previously spent protesting into some good, something alive. "to plant a garden is to believe in a future", is a big reason why I want to learn more about permaculture practises. I plan to spend the next chapter of my life learning from inspiring people about how to grow, give and understand the earth.

City/Town: Cambooya
Farming Methods: Organic
Accommodation Type: Separate Building
Mixed farm/market garden on 6 hectares of fertile soil on the edge of the Cambooya valley, just 17kms south of Toowoomba, Darling Downs, south east Queensland. We're a simple mom and pop operation, still building up from our modest beginnings as a bare paddock just 14 years back. Anton qualified through agricultural college in his homeland of the Netherlands and moved here at 21. Nicola taught school on and off for 33 years both here and in her native New Zealand. Our farm had its gestation in the cut flower growing business, but when we got together in our 40s, it became apparent that growing chemical sensitivities and growing awareness of ecological issues required a re-think as we went forward. We decided the whole smallholding should be organic and that we should not put all our eggs in one basket. Are you spotting the puns yet? In short, we have, thus far, developed 3 arms to the farm - vegetables, garlic and eggs. Flowers will undoubtedly return at some stage.

After we graduated college we decided to travel around Australia and so far we've been to Lennox Head, Sydney, and Melbourne. After spending a lot of time in cities, we wanted to get back to nature and loved the idea of working on organic farms in Tasmania. We hope to learn about organic farming techniques so we know what to expect when we start our own farm one day!

Whilst on the move this year we'd love the opportunity to have a break from travelling, stop for a while and learn more about an area as well as learn more about how others, and families in particular, live life. We'd like to learn from others and share our skills

WWOOF Australia acknowledges the Traditional owners of the land on which we work. We honour the ongoing cultural & spiritual connections, heritage, customs & beliefs of Aboriginal people & pay respect to Elders past, present and emerging.
