The Batchelor NT Butterfly Farm is a 90 minute drive from Darwin and situated just 30 minutes from the beautiful and popular Litchfield National Park with its numerous water holes and spectacular waterfalls. The perfect place for WWOOFers to enjoy we have self contained in our Butterfly Home Stay.


How long does a butterfly live?

An average butterfly species has an adult life span of 2 weeks or less. Some long-lived tropical butterflies live up to 6 months as adults.

Does a Butterfly Have a Brain and Heart?

Yes, butterflies and all other insects have both a brain and a heart. The butterfly has a long chambered heart that runs the length of its body on the upper side.

Can I hurt a Butterfly if I Hold it?

Medium to large butterflies can be safely handled and released by persons who know how to do it. Any butterfly can be fatally damaged by being handled improperly.
