How long does a butterfly live?

An average butterfly species has an adult life span of 2 weeks or less. Some long-lived tropical butterflies live up to 6 months as adults.

Does a Butterfly Have a Brain and Heart?

Yes, butterflies and all other insects have both a brain and a heart. The butterfly has a long chambered heart that runs the length of its body on the upper side.

Can I hurt a Butterfly if I Hold it?

Medium to large butterflies can be safely handled and released by persons who know how to do it. Any butterfly can be fatally damaged by being handled improperly.
